Purchasing refurbished iphone 5/5s via GEB (ebay). Advisable?

A friend of mine is interested in purchasing an iphone 5s from an American private seller.
Listing via GEB is indeed tempting, and possibility of applying some discount coupon makes it even more lucrative.

I have no experience via GEB, nor for a private listing which has factory refurbished iphones. Is it worth going for the deal?
Any other similar source for the phones?

Global Easy Buy is ok I've got some products like IEMs Cables tshirts shipped from USA & UK. It's covered under paisapay. So you get refunded if not delivered in time. Generally the prices are higher as they include shipping or customs in the list price. It's sellers headache to get it cleared in customs etc.

Do check the return policy before getting a refurbished phone.

Global Easy Buy is different from buying from ebay.com or ebay.co.uk. In the latter, custom clearance is Buyer's headache. I've had sellers refund me for shipments which got lost in India.

I haven't got anything from ebay for quite some time now so please do check the FAQS again.

Kindly use the item no. on the GEB listing to check on ebay.com the actual seller of the item. I did that and the negative reviews of the sellers were horrifying . Plus returns will be a PITA. There are other websites like cowboom but i have no experience purchasing from them. Proceed with caution.

Also it should be Manufacturer refurb and not seller refurb. And for refurbs Apple resets the warranty details etc phone should be as good as new, with box and all accessories. I have searched many and hardly any sellers sell genuine refurbs. (Trust me, I have wasted a lot of time for this) So you never know, they could even have some parts replaced. And also most of these listings come only with phone. So you don't get box, EarPods or charger. Fck EarPods, but apple charger and cable costs a bomb. So you have to spend money again. And non-apple chargers suck donkey balls or the better alternatives cost as much as orginal charger (or may be 200-300 diff)

So, I say avoid these.

Alternative is to try few bids and have it shipped here. But then you have to bear with customs and all. Secondly, customs wil charge you according to Indian price of iPhones.

Roughly, you would have to pay $300 (phone) + $15 (shipping) + 4785 (43,500 * 0.11) = ~24k.
