I have answered my requirements in the following questionnaire.
Q: What is your budget?
6.5K

Q: What is your existing hardware configuration (component name - component brand and model)
CPU - AMD Athlon X4 630 2.8ghz
Motherboard - Gigabyte m61pme-s2p
GPU - None
RAM -2GB DDR 2
Monitor - Dell ST2220M
SMPS - Non branded
Cabinet - Tech com

Q: Which hardware will you be keeping (component name - component brand and model)
CPU - AMD Athlon X4 630 2.8ghz
Motherboard - Gigabyte m61pme-s2p
RAM - 4gB ddr 3
Monitor -Dell ST2220M
HDD - WD 500GB 7200rpm (waiting for prices to slash down)
Cabinet - Tech com

Q: Which hardware component are you looking to buy (component name). If you have already decided on a configuration then please mention the (component brand and model) as well, this will help us in fine tuning your requirement.
GPU - Sapphire HD 6770 1GB DDR5
PSU - corsair cx430

Q: Is this going to be your final configuration or you would be adding/upgrading a component in near future. If yes then please mention when and which component
Yes this is going to be my final configuration for next 3 years.

Q: Where will you buy this hardware? (Online/City/TE Dealer)
any dealer in Nehru Place
Not comfortable in buying online.

Q: Would you consider buying a second hand hardware from the TE market
No

Q: What is your intended use for this PC/hardware
Gaming - Mostly
Browsing - Frequently
Desktop Processing
Watching HD movies- Yes, most of the times

Q: Do you have any brand preference or dislike? Please name them and the reason for your preference/dislike.
No brand preference but after sales service should be good.

Q: Are you looking to overclock?
No

Q: Which operating system do you intend to use with this configuration?
Windows 7 32 bit
Linux - ubuntu

Hi All,
By reading through different posts I have thought about buying ATI Sapphire HD 6770 (1gb ddr5) along with corsair cx430. My current rig has a non-branded cabinet. My question is would it cause any problem if I add above mentioned PSU & GPU to this non branded(Tech Com) cabinet. If it may cause some big problem then please suggest me a cheapest available cabinet which I can use for accommodating this PSU & GPU.

My second query is regarding the motherboard. I have a Gigabyte m61pme-s2p.
Gigabyte m61pme-s2p
It has PCI/PCI-e slots. Will it cause any problem if I add the above components to this mobo?
I just want to be sure that this GPU will work fine with this mobo.

Thanks

wont cause any major issues , only airflow will suffer a bit and card temepratures wil be on higher side i would say buy the card and smps and check temperatures if within permissible limits stay with the current cabinet , and cheapesh best cabinet CM 311 1.8K , Nzxt Gamma 2.2k

Thanks Sukant, How can I measure the temperature of CPU & GPU? I know its a silly question but I am a newbie in this arena so pls tell me. Also what about motherboard compatibility?

As you are going for Sapphire 6770, Trixx utility will help you in overclocking (You shouldnt on that mobo of yours :) ) and temperature check as well.

AMD overdrive is the best IMO to check CPU as well as GPU temps

Even the ATI catalyst manager has an option to check GPU temps

Make sure you are getting CORSAIR CX430 V2

6770 will run fine on your existing mobo and I dont think the temps would be high. GPU temps will stay between 45 (idle) to 65(load), and thats not high by any means

CX300??? Well considering that you are speaking of a 300w PSU then if you are ready to experience BSOD's or some fireworks, then you can get a 300W PSU :)

Jokes apart I am insisting you to get CX430 V2. With a 6770 in system, cant take risk with a 300w supply. If you are really low on budget then Gigabyte superb 460 or FSP saga 400 should be decent enough.

Ok. I hope power supply of CX300 should be enough for HD6770. Please provide suggestions

Sorry that was by mistake...I meant CX430 V2 (300 was a typing mistake), but I asked because power requirements listed on Sapphire's website for this particular card is 500w so using a 430w supply might blow the card. So I asked.

Trust me, it wont blow the card :) The requirements given by GFX manufacturer are always high, just to make sure that their card doesnt experience any hardware failure due to system overloading. Your system will consume approx 300w on full load, so CX430 V2 is good enough.

If you still have some doubt, you can get Seasonic 430 or Corsair CX500 V2 at 2.6K and 3K respectively

Now I am feeling relief. So probably this weekend or next week I'll be going to Nehru place & get the card. I guess the shopkeepers in NP don't mind fitting PSU & GPU in my CPU as I have never assembled a PC. I rarely open the cabinet.

Also I have a small query. Dont these PC peripherals come with MRP? if yes then why their prices fluctuate? It is beyond my imagination to understand the price fluctuation.

If we have to shell out as much as the MRP then we will have big hole in our pockets the MRP for the items are way high than what we pay for , i think the fluctuation are occuring due to change in dollar value for indian rupees .

Yeah today I checked that HDD prices were 2times that of pre-diwali. Even I had dropped the idea an waiting for prices to come down

Can any of you give me the idea about which brand to prefer XFX(HD6770) or sapphire (HD6770) ? what would be the difference between the two brands? I have also read somewhere that there is not much difference between HD5770 & HD 6770. is it true?
