Are you sure the first letter 'V' in the docket number actually means that? :\

I'm not so sure on this since I've dealt with DTDC countless times and have had noticed that the first letter is always an alphabet followed by the numbers. Not sure if it meant some priority consignment though.

Btw, going by redcross's itrust ratings, he has had quite a number of positive feedbacks so maybe you should count on him. Besides, I see that your location is Kolkatta - is there anything the consignee should do (paper-work?) before he gets the shipment? I've heard there's something peeps from WB needs to do so as to ensure that the courier company can deliver the consignment to them.
 
What has me worried is that the consignment no does not show up on the couriers tracking site :(

when things are shipped i think the seller should post a close up of the shipping bill showing destination and consignment number.
If possible please include this in suggestions for the market.
 
The "V" in the consignment number is just an indicator of the place from where the package is sent.. For example for normal air shipping: "F" is for Trivandrum, "M" for Mumbai, "C" for chennai & so on.. There is a different set of alphabets for the premium shipments, for example sending from Trivandrum via Blue/Plus it would be "W"..

IIRC the code for ordinary air shipping from Bangalore is "B".. Since is "V" most probably it'd have been sent via a premium DTDC service..
 
V means its shipped by dtdc plus or blue .

if its not showing in tracking then u should ask the seller a pic of the receipt and show it to dtdc office .

if he has shipped it , it should show in tracking .

btw try changing last 2 digits of the tracking no to check whether the series actually exists , if it doesnt show others in tracking then u have been given wrong tracking no :P

Why dont you just phone the DTDC helpline in your city.

They will be aware of all the intricacies of the consignment number & help you out much quicker then experimenting & also confirm authoritatively if the seller has given a absolutely non existent & wrong tracking number

^^Not necessarily....most of the consignments I've sent through Dtdc trivandrum have started with R and O
 
^ tracking no only shows when it has left the office and shipped , sometimes it leaves office next day so it should be trackable tomorrow .

Weird! I think Vinay was right - out of the 100 odd slips that I have here ATM, ALL consignments which left Surat began with an alphabet A.
 
Maybe but i've been using Dtdc for 3 years now but haven't seen an F. Most were R and O and once got some other letter for sending international....N or something i believe...
 
The te friends were correct and so was my local courier office guy
redcross had shipped it by plus service hence the V code but that service does not deliver at my pincode so the idiots kept the package for a few days and DID NOT EVEN INFORM HIM he had to go to their office and resend it by normal delivery so the new code starts with B. :) keeping my fingers crossed.

I've sent some 150+ packages via DTDC from Trivandrum & the consignment numbers of all of them shipped via DTDC Air (normal) service started with "F" only.. Till date i haven't saw a R or O.. I send from DTDC Trivandrum Main Branch only (Really nice people, never even asks what's inside!!!)..
 
@SIBOT I almost pulled out my hair. :) I guess in the courier feedback we could pool together a list of the various codes. Would be helpful.

Ps thanks a ton to all my te friends you really kept my spirit up and all that info helped me query the local office and get the probable picture which redcross later confirmed
 
I have gone thru a turmoil with this Phones shipment thru DTDC, after i got payment i dispatched the Phone on 18th or 19th (not sure of the date) thru DTDC Plus service but when i inquired with them day before yesterday as to why the phone hasn't reached, those idiots at DTDC first could not trace my package and they asked to come the next day....

the next day when i reached luckily they had found the parcel and unfortunately it was still lying in the local office in Bangalore, I asked them the reason for delay, they told me that DTDC Plus service is not available in the pin code i have mentioned (712246)...

when i asked them why they haven't bothered to call me or the receiver they gave me some lame reasons like my phone was not reachable, i was in no mood to fight with them and took the parcel back, even the parcel packing was in bad condition,

so yesterday morning i had to repack the parcel and send it to Arup, this time i went to a DTDC branch where a friend of mine works and he has promised me delivery within 48hr, so ideally Arup should receive it by Monday.

Now the tracking status is updated.... so ideally it should be delivered tomm..

Mods can Lock this thread if Arup is ok with it.
 
mobile sent on 27 from bangalore this time with normal shipping code starting with B
Recieved the package today afternoon in perfect condition
Typing this on that e63 :) cheers :)
