hello guys, i want to know some facts about this broadband router as i have an intention to buy it in Singapore or Malaysia, since my parents will be going there by a couple of weeks. I think the price is high here in Chennai richie st., (5k+ is this price correct ?) . Is it worth buying it in Singapore or Malaysia where it costs around 109SGD (around 3.5k)

Also is there any TE member using this router ?. I am having a Dlink 1080D 8 port switch and AIRTEL ISP with beetel 220bx (which will be replaced by this router). I have one laptop but i dont have any wireless adapter for my desktop since i wont be using wireless for my desktop for sometime until it comes very essential as m satisfied with wired connection.

But i have nokia e71 mobile which i will be using with this router to transfer photos, mp3s etc .

So now tell me guys. Whether this "n" router will be useful and its a good buy. I have read bad reviews about this router in newegg. So m doubtful whether to purchase it or not..

Plz enlighten me. good alternatives for this router are also welcome....

plz anyone reply to my message. Why is every1 ignoring this query. There is not even a single person who has used/using this router ??

You can still use your e71 with the wifi router you have. A wireless N router isn't going to make any difference to your e71 or another phone you use.
Does your notebook support N? Even if it does I don't see a point in upgrading to wireless N unless you need that kind of bandwidth. Stick with what you have and get something like a video card or LCD from sg.
You just wana upgrade because you think the wirelss N will make your internet experince faster and better?? :P

I intended to go for WRT160N and landed here. TEians please dont be apprehensive about Laden and feel free for suggestions ;)

The WRT160N is an average router. The newer versions in the market, v3, have some known wireless stability issues, but I believe they've been rectified with a new firmware update. Using this over something like a WRT54G2 won't make much of a difference as far as internet access on your cell phone. Your laptop will also not benefit much even if it has an N standard card built-in since the internet speed is limited by the speed of the connection you've got. It would help if you transfer a lot of data between your laptop and another computer though. Also, another benefit of having an N series router and an N series adapter would be the increased range.

Also, you can't replace your Beetel 220BX with the WRT160N. The WRT160N is a router, not a modem+router. So you'll be connecting your 220BX to the WRT160N. If you want an all-in-one unit, there's the WAG160N or the WAG320N.
