A colleague asked abt this, and i was not a 100% on this regard..

1) Do we get Do Not Call applications in India ? How can we purchase here ?

Quick google revealed they do have in US, but nothing came up with Indian Rupee pricing.

2) Are they OS specific or handset specific?

i am sure has to be the former but confirming.

3) Can i register the number in Do Not Call / Do not disturb (which one is it btw ?? there are 2 ..) registry w.o sending sms like via internet ? Link wd be helpful here.

Urgent. Do reply asap.

TIA :)

What you need is a call blacklisting app.

For Symbian, you can purchase a license for IVCM/Phonepilot/Best Blacklist/Webgate Advanced Call Manager etc. from Ovi.

There are free alternatives too. Besides, if you know python you can simply code one of your own in pys60.

it would now be even simpler now after a recent court ruling that all telemarketing calls will have to use a prefix 700xxxxxx for their calls to distinguish themselves, but anyways, I bet there would still be some annoying callers around.

Besides phone calls, you can also blacklist and delete spam sms (different app maybe needed for this), especially those with an easily recognizable prefix like TD-, TA-, BLR- etc. (depending on your state and service provider) using an app like Webgate Advanced Spam Manager and other sms utilities.

Don't know if this is even possible on the iPhone and Blackberry since this requires the system to be capable of multitasking but I bet there may be some apps / scriptlets on Android and WinMo. I can do this even on my decade old Nokia, the s60v1 Ngage-QD, the v2 6600 and my current phone the s60v5 5230.

there is so much you can do with the right tools, eg. record a call or reply with a generic f*** off message or a really loud audio file to send the message across even more clearly :D
