VCC with paypal? I don't think you can do it.
And to make payment you need CC.

I purchased once from DX - they seem okay.

I do not think they keep any stock with them. When you pay, they use that money to buy from the distributor. Most of their products mention a 7-10 dispatch time.
I placed an order 5 days back, but its not dispatched yet.
So, do not expect anything quick from them.

Hello all,

I'm a new member from Chennai and had ordered a mechanical watch from deal extreme almost 4 weeks back. Today (6th Sep) the post man delivered the parcel and demanded a duty of Rs.1690 :rage::rage::rage: for the parcel. The watch itself costs only around Rs. 1085. Immediately I didn't know what to do and I returned the parcel. The guy said that if returned, it will be sent to the GPO and wont be reverted to the sender. As per my understanding, goods sent as gift up to Rs. 5000 is not dutiable. Even if a duty is to be applied it wouldn't be so high. I felt this could this be a trick on the postman as he didn't produce a memo. Please tell me what to do next.

The postman or the customs officials are playing tricks. As per rules they can't charge you so much.

Hi Baccilus,
Thank you for the response. Any suggestions for the next course of action on how to retrieve the watch or getting a refund.

Thanks

Go to the post office and speak to the person in charge there. This dude is just trying to fleece you. I've ordered many watches from DX over the last year and have never paid a single rupee in customs.

Hi Blackend,

I went to the local post office today where the parcel is received and contacted the post master. He blamed the customs for the duty, was just blunt and clueless (may be acting) and insisted that I pay the amount and take the parcel and not willing to budge. It seems there is very less chance if not impossible for the amount to be waived off or even reduced and told me to contact the airport customs post office to sort this issue. If the amount is not paid and parcel collected from the local PO within 5 days then it seems will be sent back to GPO and finally to the sender.

The customs in chennai are a bunch of corrupted, obnoxious hooligans (had a bad experience with chennai customs before) trying to rip every penny. Also wondering if the post dept. is involved in this mess as well. Not sure why this should happen in my case. My first online order from overseas and possibly my last. May be just my bad luck:banghead::banghead::banghead:.

AFAIK, if the product is sent back, DX will refund your money. They refunded my money when my parcel went missing on the way.
