Query regarding lag without GPU

Hey fellas,

Maybe a dumb query, but help me understand this. I took my gpu (gtx 970 )out of the system to sell it to a prospective buyer, as I was not gaming and all. But since moving to integrated graphics (concerned cpu is a 6700k) I am noticing lags even on basic things. For instance when I am typing on whatsapp web I clearly see a latency between my key press and letter appearance on the screen, or more importantly when I am moving in-app windows in photoshop there's a stutter. Are these normal? I am using Display port as connection (used the same with GPU and now without it).

Please comment.
 
I used to run an i7 2600k with integrated graphics fine with Windows 10 with no lags etc. As suggested by others, do a full DDU and proceed

Thanks all. I will try this DDU thing. I was actually thinking of a fresh Windows installation as this is bothering me too much. Has MS released any lite Windows version yet as they announced couple of years ago? I feel like gaining weight while using W10.

The funny thing is, this problem became evident after I took the GPU (the actual hardware i mean) out of the system. But for past few days even though the GPU was installed still in the system, I switched the DP cable from the gpu slot to the on-board graphics and there was no problem whatsoever. Does this mean that somehow the gpu was still active even after the display cable switch from d-gpu to i-gpu? That's the part which is baffling me most

So when you moved the dp cable from the dGPU to iGPU, and if you could still see the dGPU showing up in task manager, then it means that your dGPU was still doing the rendering and graphics processing, while the iGPU was just acting as a display GPU, ie, it was simply being used to output display signals without actually being used. This is why you didn't face any lag even after you moved the dp cable since your GPU was still in use

Thanks a lot. This now clears the doubt. My friend told me otherwise though. That simply by moving the display cable from dgpu to igpu I would get an overall idea of the how the system should perform without the dgpu. Nice.

By the way even after using DDU nothing is resolved. There's still lag when in-app windows are moved, nowhere near this is able to output 60 fps! Not only in Photoshop, but on Chrome, and some other apps the moment i try to move (drag) the window! Ridiculous!

I'm going to do a fresh Windows installation now.

remove old drivers and install latest drivers for igpu. also check for thermals as iGPUS are on the cpu chip, heat can also cause lags.

Applies from Windows 10 though never was a problem back in W7 days. I'm thinking about installing the LTSC version, that's the lightweight one right? Only problem is my key is for Pro version so I'm guessing it won't work on the LTSC.

Usually the cpu is around 2-3 degrees higher than room temp when idling. Didn't check while in app/ game though.
