PC Peripherals Question abt DVD Media... Verbatim 16x/8x and T-Y 8x

I was just browsing through newegg and noticed that Taiyo Yudens dont have a 16x media.... the only thing shown there is 8x.

TAIYO YUDEN 4.7GB 8X DVD+R Disc - Retail at Newegg.com And for 50 DVDs, it is 24$. This is 8x

Verbatim 4.7GB 8X DVD+R High-Speed Quality Disc with Advanced Azo Recording Dye - Retail at Newegg.com this is the Verbatim 8x.... 41$. for 100 DVDs

Verbatim 4.7GB 16X DVD+R Disc - Retail at Newegg.com This is Verbatim 16x..... 40$ for 100 DVDs.

Verbatim 4.7GB 16X DVD+R Inkjet Printable Disc - Retail at Newegg.com Verbatim 16x..... 21$ for 50 DVDs.

Which should I buy ?? If I buy the T-Ys, will it be ok to burn them all at 16x on my 1650??

Or do you people suggest the Verbatim certified 16x ??

Or some other media ?? Newegg.com - Once You Know, You Newegg

I am leaning right now towards a 50 pack coz of fund crunch :P ....

PS: I know tons of you really want this media. Please dont request me to get you all some media. I am not sure if I myself will be getting them. If I myself was going and coming, I would have dfinitely got 10 100 DVD boxes :P .... SO, sorry for not entertaining any requests. :(
 
arent the verbs mfged by CMC in taiwan...

hmmm.....

chk out svp.co.uk.. they got TY verbs and also along given the code ..:D...

It is CMC - Another MID for Verbatim discs. :P Considerded mediocre.

Chaos is also pointing to what Akshit has mentioned. The Verbs could be CMC and not MCC. That means that you're taking a chance of getting the kinda okay CMC instead of the good MCC.

But it is DVD-R.... I want DVD+R

And say the Verbatims turn out to be CMC.... how bad can it be ?? How does it compare to the local stuff here.... MB 16x stuff...

Coz if I get the TYs, it is not VFM. simply too expensive

Even if CMC is not that bad compared to MBI 16x, then I will go for the verbs simply coz it is quite cheap and there is a chance it could be MCC
 
abbey. when you have the chance to buy top quality media ... why do you wanna blow it away but taking a risk buying something that maynot be better then the local media available...... sheesh

and you get verbs here tooo... and you get maxell's too... which are better then the verbs... so i think yourmaking a wrong decision gonig for the verbs!!!
 
Why only DVD+R and not -R ? If you're going by the fact that the BenQ has better burning on +R than -R, then let me tell you that the MCC mid -R above has had very good burns on the 1650. I'd still advise u to go for the MCC mid -R given above than take the chance with the +R.
 
Boss, Nikhil.. go to rima.com. They have 16X TYs in stock, MID TYG03 for the -Rs and Yuden000-T03 for teh +Rs.

I'd actually go for the Verbs. Better QC than TY.. there have been some bonding issues with TY, and the newer 16X media isn't well supported by drive firmwares yet.

I'd recommend the 8X +R TY from rima.com as well.. excellent media,well supported everywhere.
