question on normal DVD players video resolution

hi,

Any idea @ what resolution the video is played back on a normal DVD player like onida/philips (under the 5k range) etc without using the progressive scan mode. is it 480i???

and what is the resolution when the progressive scan mode is turned on. is it 480p or 720p???

DVD supports maximum 720 x 480 resolution.Normally all DVD's run on this resolution but alot depend on the DVD quality.If u compare T-series dvd with EROS u will find lot of difference in Image quality.And if u compare EROS with Warner Bro's DVD there will be again alot of diff in Image quality.Hollywood DVD's are always more clear and high quality with their Indian counterparts.
 
DAMN... indian companies. always taking the JUGAAD route.

what about movies that come on Sony pictures DVD's. i find them a lil short in quality also.
 
The worst part about the Indian DVDs is the sound quality. The 5.1 is a waste for Indian movies and the centre channel invariably is not loud enough.
