25 posts AND 30 days (of posting activity) on the forum.
The idea is that people post for 30 days, barely needing 1 post a day, and are encouraged to continue long beyond that.

This avoids people spamming 25 posts in 1 day, with low effort posts or AI generated posts.
If a mod notices any spamming, you will get 'Market Restricted' which will add another 1 month of delay to your market access. Even Enclave Plus subscription won't override this.

. 25 posts and 30 days are not new requirements. They were already in place many years ago. Renegade temporarily relaxed the requirements in 2020, with the condition that you level up. The requirements were enforced again in 2024.

. If you have an old account on TE, but if you do not have sufficient posting activity, it means the account is inactive. Many inactive accounts don't update their passwords, don't use 2FA, and even use disposable email addresses.

Also, probably a silly question - I'm pretty new to forums and all this, so bear with me. Since this is my first post, do I need to make 24 more actual posts, or do replies count too, to unlock DMs and access the marketplace?

Hey! I’ve crossed 25 posts in the technical sections ( DM feature unlocked) but still can’t post in the Marketplace. Just wanted to confirm - what are the exact requirements to post a WTB thread in the “Looking to Buy” section? Thanks in advance!

They have made it as clear as possible. Not sure how people still find it hard to read/comprehend. Can you tell us what is confusing about this? I understand you were able to access it before but rules change, they are not carved in stone.

Don't worry, it's a legitimate doubt that I had as well. Replies do count as posts, but only in the technical sections (the social lounge and marketplace don't count).

I feel the wording could be improved for more clarity, since other new members might have the same doubts as well @Renegade

This is probably a bit too long, but something like this could help eliminate any doubts:

"To access the marketplace, you must have at least 25 meaningful posts (either threads or replies) in the forum’s technical sections. These include areas focused on programming, emerging tech, hardware, networking, and other tech-related topics. Posts in off-topic, general discussion, or marketplace sections do not count toward this requirement."

If you are on PC, just hover your mouse on your username, or on phone, tap your username once.

The first number, Messages 21, is your post count. If you reply in non-technical sections, it won't increase. If you reply in a technical section, it will increase.

On a side note, this should be clearer. @mods, can we use the same title everywhere, "posts" instead of messages here, so that it is easily understood?

I have 32 messages but still can't reply on marketplace. Very vague rules to promote people to pay for subscription.

It isn't an instant process. I think it takes some time to reflect the changes in the code. Wait for 24 hours at least. Or one of the mods will see this post and let you know.

I have 32 messages and the account is since 2009! I don't have marketplace access. Seems like paying is the only way to gain access.

That's not true. I think some old accounts which were not active for years were disabled from market to prevent frauds taking over and misusing them. Maybe yours got included in that list.

Just wait for the mods to clear out the confusion. @Renegade if you could look into this.

Click on profile (icon after Techenclave) then click on "account upgrade".

You need to be an active member for a while before you get access to the market section.
The forum is meant to be a place for discussion first, trading second. Allowing new members to trade has led to a lot of issues in the past.
