Quick launch not showing up.

Nikhil

Explorer
The Quick launch on the taskbar is not showing up.

I right click on taskbar and go to properties and check the box next to "show Quick Launch".

But it does not show up.

And I say OK and close that box.

Then if I right click on the taskbar and click on Properties again, the box next to "show quick launch" is NOT checked but I had checked it just a few secs back.

Any suggestions guys???

First thing is do you use a skinning application, Yes - uninstall and try NO - then :

Before doing this enable Hidden folders view from your folder setting -

Go to X:\Documents and Settings\[profile name]\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer and check if Quick Launch folder is present - If No create it manually or you can auto create it by typing IE4UINIT.EXE command and reboot, enable quick launch now.

If Yes - then :

Backup the concerned reg first, Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\ look for a entry called ClassicShell if it is there - just delete it and Reboot and see if works. If NO then :

Type these commands from RUN -

REGSVR32 /i SHELL32.DLL

REGSVR32 /i BROWSEUI.DLL

Reboot, try enabling quick launch now see if it works.

If the above steps dont work then just reinstall Internet Explorer

I have logged in as an admin

And dip, thanks for the tip but no use :(
Go to X:\Documents and Settings\[profile name]\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer and check if Quick Launch folder is present

there is no Internet Explorer folder at all........

And how do I reinstall IE??

What option do I have to choose in the setup disc?

yes yes..... All hidden folders are shown.

My computer settings are always like that..... I hate knowing that there are hidden stuff which I cant see......

Ok go to Documents and Settings and look into all profiles, it is not possible you dont have IE folder - there is something you are missing.

Nikhil, have you uninstalled IE from your machine? I think your problem lies there. Reinstall IE and it ought to be fine. I think during the uninstallation process, the Quick Launch folder, which resides within the IE folder in Documents and Settings, got deleted as well.

For reinstalling IE, just go the Control Panel and choose add/remove Windows components and select IE again.
