hi All,

Please suggest if the quotation given by Dell for the below configuration is reasonable.

Inspiron 14R N series
Core i3-350M
DOS Factory Installed
3GB (1x1GB + 1x2GB DDR3 1333Mhz)
320GB 5400RPM HDD
Intel HD Graphics
3 Years Complete cover Accidental Damage Protection
No case

Price: 36.9 (Inclusive of tax and shipping)
Few queries...
1. Will the integrated Intel HD graphics be capable of smooth 720p playback.
2. Does the Inspiron 14R have an HDMI port?
3. What is the preferred (safe) mode of payment? Options are CC through IVR, and net banking.
4. Has anyone successfully installed Windows XP on this model?
5. What is the average battery life for normal office usage?
Thanks in advance.

even i'm looking for dell insipiron 14R.

See if you can get a Core i3-330M with 2GB DDR3 as this should reduce price by 3K. Ram you can always add cheaper later. Not much diff in processor

Have Inspi 1464 (Old Model)

It has Intel HD graphics, plays 1080p with HDMI on LCD.. No problems at all.

If you are not heavy gamer then go with Intel HD graphics rather then ext card, which will waste power & give more heat.

Dont go with Windows XP, No drivers around.. Take up Win 7 64 bit..

Win XP SP2 support is already stopped & soon will stop for SP3 too.

I would personally suggest, have a look at Inspi 14, It looks way way better then 14R

Are you sure about the quote ? I got the exact same thing after the 8% discount for 39.6 k

the price i think is fine enough..

and yes, it has a HDMI port..

720p movies should not be a hassle..the processor can easily take care of that..

the battery life should easily be around 3hours, if not more..

however, that depends on your usage..

if you use it just for browsing and documents, you should get around 3-4 hours of battery life..

while , if you use it for movie playback and music etc, you would get roughly around 2-3 hours..

Rest of the questions i think have been answered in previous posts..

i have the inspiron 15.6 mate .. go for the 14R with eyes closed if you just use for nomal surfing and not gaming .. the inspiron series is very reliable .. ur quote is good too. ...+ the complete cover ( nothing beats that)
