I bought this cable yesterday from Lamington Road for 650/-. It is available from any of the dealers on the street who have a phone line - ask and they all phone the place who is the stockist and it is delivered in 15 minutes. :) .... any dealer ...except Computer Selection who were NOT interested in making the phone call.

I find it very useful as I have 8 HDDs and about 8 Optical drives and at times I find the need to connect up different drives - dont ask why I have so many drives :) ... whenever I have a little spare cash I go and buy another drive :D

This gizmo handles 3.5" PATA drives as well 2.5" Notebook drives along with Optical drives - CD and DVD.

I attached a CDROM and could boot with the XP install CD and the XP setup procedure started up !! NICE !!!

I transferred a 2.5GB file and the transfer rate was varying between 18 - 20 mb/s when the same drive was placed inside a USB case I get a transfer rate of 23mb/s. In one of the reviews it is mentioned that it was possible to burn CDs at 32x and DVDs at 4x witht he drive attached to this gizmo.

I read at DANDATA that both the 3.5" and 2.5" drives should be connected at the same time.

here are 2 reviews... and pictures...
