Saw the movie just after release. Story was not very good but Cinematography and locations were just awesome. Thanks to Santosh Sivan for extremely awesome cinematography :)

I agree that story wasn't that good but I never got bored of scenes and locations.

It turns out that Abhishek Bachchan's claims of having done the death-defying stunt in Raavan could be one big lie. Bangalore-based diving champion, MS Balram, has claimed it was his work.

Leaving aside the performances and how bad the movie is can anyone tell me what all locations this movie was shot in ? They are spectacular, especially the rain forests where there are those tall trees.

1st half part of it....the waterfalls and all is shot near and around Hoggenekkal Falls( Arnd 150 km from Blore) in TN & rest in Kerela's Chalakudy jungle most probably...the 2nd half seems to be in Orcha in MP & Malshej Ghat valley in Maharashtra

watched the movie today.....

i have to say that i was disappointed

firstly i dont understand the concept of saying that its an modern adaptation of ramayan when not even half of the concept of ramayan is included in it....if one considers this to be a adaptation of ramayan then 90% movies will be inspired by some mythological saga......its just a story of a man who kidnaps the wife of an sp to take revenge for wht they did to his sister but eventually falls in love with the women.....that was my biggest disappointment.......

secondly i personally was looking forward for "ranjha ranjha" full song even that was cut short.....though this is a personal opinion

finally the best things were cinematography(breath taking visuals), music (as usual rahman gulzar combo), and good action scenes (whateven there are barring a few tacky harness scenes)

overall disappointed

i was mighty satisfied after watching guru.....nothing like that in "RAAVAN"

off topic out of all the so called modern take on old saga's the one i liked was dev D.All the elements of devdas were very intelligently incorporated in it with a present time take on them...

Cinematography was treat, except some of the scene in first half near waterfall, where one can understand the trick that mani shot the water scene separately and then showed the waterfall after it so that viewer could feel that it was actually shot near waterfall...

And the bridge scene in end looked completely fake at moments..

Could you guys please tell me what exactly you didn't like in the story? I just came back from the movie and really liked it (yes including the story).

First half was a bit slow but the second half pretty much explained why it had to be stagnant so it pretty much makes up for it. Though editing could have been better overall.

Cinematography was simple superb!..

story..not good..no logic in some parts.

Overall:can see once for story, many times for the visuals
