I am using Win7 Ultimate 64 bit OS. I have 4 GB Ram (XMS3 Corsair). Till yesterday my PC was showing 3.5 GB ram used but now it is showing 2.75 GB of ram in use. I had used the ready boost for my Kingston 4 GB pen drive yesterday and I think it had happened only after that.

Pls tell me how to correct this error.

Still waiting..............for the reply.............

1. dont use pendrives for readyboost

2. open ccleaner and show me ram reading

3. run a game or ram heavy app(compression of files) and note ram readings in the TASK MANAGER.

show me task manager snap..

It was 3.5GB because I think you have an IGP because mine shows 4GB installed(usable is not mentioned)(mention your PC config please). But the 2.75GB thing, well I'll be able to help once you gimme task manager snap

2. open ccleaner and show me ram reading

Pls tell where is it in CCcleaner?

1. dont use pendrives for readyboost
Why as it is meant for this purpose only?

My pc has:

X4 635 (OCed to 3.4 ghz)
Gig 785 GMT
4 GB XMS3 corsair
1 TB Seagate
No graphic card.
CX400

Rest I will take the snap and get back.

Highly probable due to the OC settings. Boards do that and the OS reads it incorrect. As long as the BIOS report corrects you are fine. Try a stress software (maxPI) or something, and see if greater than 2.75GB is allocated. It should.

@Rohit

As you have onboard gfx, it will use some of your system ram for gfx processing, thts why you were getting 3.5 gb previously, but now showing 2.75 gb, its a bit weired. Did you do any gfx settings changes and allocated more ram towards gfx processing?

Also what is your bios showing? Amount of ram?

1) have you rebooted the system and then checked ?
2) have you alloted a lot of memory dedicated to the graphics ( in the BIOS ) ?
3) any other peripherals connected to your pc ?
4) done memtest recently ?

btw : 2.75GB usable memory is different from 2.75GB used.

see : The usable memory may be less than the installed memory on Windows 7-based computers

What does Resource Monitor -> Memory show ?
