Guys I finally got the i5 2500k . Now the performance of this beast is held back by my value RAMs :( so decided to change it to more powerful one :ohyeah:. I have a budget of 4-4.5k.

Products in my range :

1.Gskill F3-12800CL6D-4GBPI - 4.2k shipped. I am more inclined to this one for CL-6.

2.Corsair CMZ4GX3M1A1600C9 Vengeance - 2.8k shipped

3.Gskill F3-12800CL8D-4GBRM - 3.2k shipped.

Is there any other Good RAM in this range ?

Thanks

+1 to what stalker said. with these new SB processors memory latency are not so important. Their integrated memory controller is not sensitive to latency & timings much. And moreover buying highly overclockable memory is not going to have much of an impact as the old way of overclocking with the FSB/ BCLK is gone with these processors. I suggest you rather get some good quality RAM that are guaranteed to run stable and have low profile heatsinks so that you can use a monster cpu cooler to OC the 2500k to its limits.

you can check out any of these:

1. corsair xms3 ddr3 1600 1.65 v

2. gskill ripjaws ddr3 1600 1.6 v

both should cost around 2500 bucks for a 4 gb kit.

You are not going to notice any magical improvement in normal usage. Maybe a framerate increase of 1 or 2 frames if you can notice that.

What makes you think your performance is held back? How did you conclude your ram is bottleneck?

Although RAM doesn't increase FPS, it does make stuff a lot smoother and enjoyable and snappier. I noticed this in going from DDR2 667 to DDR2 800 several years back.

And recently going from DDR3 1600 CAS 7 4gb to DDR3 CAS 9 8 gb again made things smoother because of the extra RAM. In the first case the amount of RAM was same but the speed was different.

IMO buy 2x4GB DDR3 2000Mhz CAS 10 G SKill Ripjaws for 7800 from SMC Intl.
