I wanna know which is better for gaming, lower timings or frequency..
my cpu will be an i5 - 2500
GPU HD 6850.. planning to crossfire once i save up for another..
PSU corsair tx850
i'm deciding between these 2:

1333mhz 7-7-7-21
Newegg.com - G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL7D-8GBRH

1600mhz 9-9-9-24
Newegg.com - G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-8GBRL

Go for the 1600 MHz RAM as Intel supports these speeds at default better change the card to Nvidia GTX 460, later when you SLi and OC you can always make the speed settings of the RAM sticks tighter :)

and I advised you to opt for the Nvidia card due to following reason

Nvidia has more efficient drivers

SLI has the best affect with GTX 460 or you can go for single card solution GTX 570 :) all upto you bro

Bench - GPU - AnandTech :: Your Source for Hardware Analysis and News ~ GTX 460 1 GB vs. HD 5850

the HD 6850 performs slightly lower to both only pros more efficient and improved tessellation and Anti-aliasing features

thanks for the help alpha.. already bought the 6850.. :) i bought it during an offer at newegg.. bought the card for $169 ($159 with rebate)( i have no idea how to take advantage of rebate but it still sounds cool.. :P ) and my uncle keeps traveling.. so there wont be a problem of rma.. ram prices here have fallen a lot.. so dint buy that from there..

oh and performance of both the cards at 1920x1080 is pretty much similar..

Yes the HD6xxx sereis Xfire too scales equivalent to SLI now. :)

If u are getting the i5 2500 then u cant OC it much. If u are gonna OC then go for the i5 2500K. Also get a modular PSU.

^^

Yeah, it was a bad idea for me to give my brother the password for my account he has genuinely screwed up some replies, picked up fights, its nice to see you got the card you wanted + lowest prices of RAM in India look below :)

 So, that's why ur replies were somewhat misleading/incorrect from yesterday!!! (I had replied to couple of post about GPU's)

i will be getting the 2500k only.. just hope they're available here soon enough.. i doubt we'll see any sandy bridge cpu's here on Jan 5th.. will take atleast a week or 2 more till we see them in local shops.. :| As for ram ill be buying the Gskill cl7 1600mhz 4gb kit.. looks good.. :) the 8gb kit crosses budget.. :| still have to decide on PSU.. discarded corsair option after reading some new articles about some new low build quality psu's.. so please could u'll suggest me a good 800-850w modular? :P btw will 4gb of ram cl7 be enough for gaming needs? black ops, crysis warhead, fifa 11 etc.. cpu i5 2500k and gpu 6850 CF & OS win7 64bit..

PS could i get a better deal on the ram? like in prime abgb or anywhere? im from pune so i could easily drive down..

As for PSU i was thinking any one of the following:

Newegg.com - Seasonic SS-850HT 850W ATX12V v2.31,EPS12V v2.92 80Plus Silver Certified, Active PFC Power Supply - Power Supplies

Newegg.com - Thermaltake Black Widow W0319RU 850W ATX 12V v2.3, EPS 12V v2.91 CrossFire Certified 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Newegg.com - COOLER MASTER Silent Pro RS850-AMBAJ3-US 850W ATX12V v2.3 / EPS12V v2.92 SLI Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

^^

I think you might strike luck at Prime ABGB when you go to get the rest of your components, its like me when I'm in Bangalore I always go to Golccha never mind his slight temperament Inever walk out disappointed :)

For PSU look towards Seasonic, FSP, Cooler Master the new line up Silent Power Pro/ Silent Gold Pro/ Real Power Pro ( EoL ), other companies I'm not aware like FSP is there too.

Silent Pro Gold 800W - Cooler Master

Silent Pro M700 - Cooler Master

If you are going Intel check if processor supports Tri-Channel if it does you are better of with the 6 GB RIPJAWS/TRIDENT/Pi series kit :), speed minimum aim for 1600 MHz else upto you, you want 2000 MHz that'll do fine too

I hope this helps :)

I'm not aware of Thermaltake in India wait for DA and Hades to shed light
