CPU/Mobo RAM Timings???

Can someone please explain me RAM timings in detail and in layman terms? How much is the performance difference between DDR-800 5-5-5 and 4-4-4 at stock speeds?

performance difference is hardly noticable few %, previously while overclocking with ddr i found that higher frequences with looser timings gave more yeilds than stock speeds and tight timings

heres an old thread with some really old results but a side by side compare to give you a small idea, have done any serious comparisons with ddr2 so dunno if it still applies

^ Real world performance is negligent, mainly noticeable in Memory intensive applications like rendering and high-resolution gaming.

Don't fret too much over timings unless your into serious Pi benchmarking or looking for a really quick 24x7 overclocked rig.
