Rapidshare and IDM problem in Airtel

I got my earlier issue of 'No Network access' sorted out by updating my network card drivers. I use Window 7 Ultimate Edition. Off late, whenever I queue up my downloads in Internet Download Manager (V.51.8 build 5), by morning most of them have stopped showing 'error'. When I check the error, it says 'connection timed out'. This has only started happening since I shifted to Win7. Before that it worked fine in IDM.

What could be the issue?

Pardon the double post, but this is just an update (in case anyone cares to respond):

I installed Windows XP in Dual Boot mode and downloaded file via RS using IDM. Everything worked fine on it and no connection timed out here.

So I'm pretty sure, it's either the OS or something to do with the Network drivers. :(

Are you able to download files from other servers on Win7? It may be possible that particular rapidshare server may be down for maintainance.

Which one is your network card and which driver version you are using on Win7? In case of driver issue, patch or update .. something like that may be avialable already for Win7

I able to download files from Rapidshare as well. But that problem starts after around 2 hours of downloading the files. The download just stops completely and everything in the list times out. At that very point, I tried to download from other sources and that wouldn't download either. So I'm a bit confused.

I have a D-Link DFE-520TX network card installed with it's drivers installed from it's driver disc.

Hey this happens to me. I just leave rapid share and few other sites also get stuck. But I use Download Manager in FFox so I'm sometimes Restart. Thought only I had the problem. Torrents work flawlessly though

So that's one more down. Any solution people? :(

I'm amazed not a lot of people use RS with IDM in Windows 7? :S

I guess drivers are only problem ... I could find D-Link DFE-520TX PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter driver version 3.42.0.427 to be latest ones with Vista x64 support.

So remove drivers from Win7 and manually install this latest drivers to be sure that old ones are not picked up ... Vista and Win7 share same driver base so it should work fine

Personally I am using RS with IDM for last two years with very heavy downloading on BSNL and MTNL network and never had any problems unless server itself is in maintainance.

Moreover you are not this issue in WinXP if I am correct.

Are you sure its not a firewall issue with Win7 setup? If you can, please disable 'Scan network traffic' option in firewall/AV for IDM. I faced similar problem in my WinXP setup (never used Win7) and solved it like that.

I used to get Host unreachable error sometimes in IDM , which i figured out to be because of crappy BSNL DNS servers , so started using reliable free DNS servers. now everything fine.

u can also try this.

I often face the same problem on windows 7 x64 with idm & rapid share & have found that kaspersky firewall sometimes cause this issue switching it off solves the problem.

this happens when you use kaspersky 2010/2009 internet security.
Dam it! Why didn't I think of that before? :S

I'll give it a shot now. Thanks a ton for the pointers people. Much appreciated.

add a exclusion rule in kaspersky not to block IDM that should do the job.

settings>Threats & exclusions>(Right hand) settings>add rule> browse to IDM.exe & allow all

Done. Thanks a lot for your help. Hope this works properly. Should I disable the firewall as well?

glad to help,

you don't need to disable firewall but even after adding this rule I have faced this problem occasionally & feel that the rapidshare pages are having some scripts running which often is blocked by KIS then I manually switch off the kaspersky & download & resume it again.

No need. This should do it.
BTW, You could have just unchecked 'Scan Network Traffic' for IDM entry in Kaspersky settings. That alone is suffice for solving this problem.
