Accountant 2 -8/10

This movie gave me tears sometimes. It's about an accountant and his brother who brings justice to a family wronged by a cartel which deals with sex trafficking and child trafficking. Emotional movie to some I think.

Thudarum - I had a really good time watching this movie. Usually I don't like movies over 2 hours, but in this case it felt justified. Well written and executed, complimented by great performances. A bit of comedy, a bit of drama and quite thrilling. Haven't watched something like this since Maharaja.

Sinners - The movie began with an intensity so great that it got me very excited but it fell quite flat shortly thereafter. All though the setup, the movie is excellent, but can't say the same for what follows. It was an average movie for me. Except for one jump scare nothing really lived up to the horror classification. If you like period films or vampire movies, this one might be for you. I have an opinion as to how this movie could've been a lot better, but I'm going to keep that to myself.

Veera Dheera Sooran: Part 2 - This movie was quite thrilling for the most part. It keeps you wondering what's going to happen next. Towards the end, it feels like the writer was grasping for direction to take the movie in and it slows down quite a bit. The background score is awful and it affects the experience quite a bit. Unsure how they're going to make a prequel to it, given that it seems that they didn't have enough material to finish this movie itself. This one is a decent entertainer though. Catch it on Prime Video.

I felt the same way about Sinners. Great soundtrack, setting, and dialogue that had me hooked in the first half. And then very underwhelming afterwards.

Two new films I watched recently.

1. To Catch a Killer 4.5/5
I almost didn’t watch this one because of the generic title and even more generic Google description. I’ve learnt to not trust Google descriptions but it’s hard to delete something from your mind once you’ve read it.
This film was much deeper than I expected. Excellent psychological thriller with a beautiful, beautiful gut-wrenching soundtrack. Don’t go by the ratings, I think this film is misunderstood, or rather, un-understood. Available on Prime.

2. Hell or High Water 4/5
A film about two brothers trying to not sell their ranch. If you liked Yellowstone, you’ll love this. Written by Taylor Sheridan (who wrote Yellowstone). A gritty, action-packed, and modern Western that makes you question who’re the good guys and who’re the bad guys. Available on Hotstar.
