ratio for torrent sites

does anyone know how demonoid and other sites keep track of your ratio...

how do they know that a specific person has dlled and uploaded....

its just that i am curious ... thats all :)
 
I guess they have the all information about the ppl who download from their site.. it's like when u open server on your computer u can see who is connect to the server, he's IP and stuff :P
 
When u d/l that 100 kb torrent file the pvt tracker attaches ur passkey to it. As soon as ur passkey is d/l or up/l it gets reg in tracker. And yep ip and mac add dont have anything to do with it unless they try to investigate on u.
 
i read it recently .. that when u download a torrent file ur ip gets saved at that particular point ...

when u dll or upload it get registered in their server as to how much ur dlling ...

but when and if u switch off ur net ur ip will change and then they can't track how much u have dlled or uploaded
