Re-installing XP Professional

I am planning to re-install XP Professional as the current setup has errors. Is it possible to re-install XP without losing the existing progs & drivers? I dont want to remove and re-install the existing progs & drivers again. Will re-installing XP remove the existing programs & drivers completely? If yes, any way / programs to back up the existing progs and drivers and re-install them again?
