Re: New phone needed below 10K

Hi folks,

I think I need a new phone now. I don't want to step too high, want to keep it below 10K. I have used a SE T310, a SE K700i, and presently use an HP Ipaq h6365 - I know it is way too cumbersome at times :bleh:

What I am looking for is a good phone at that price. Also, want it to be Bluetooth 2.0 so that I can pair it well with my new Sony Ericsson HBH-610a handsfree :)

The camera is not the most essential feature for me (leave that job to my Canon ). FM, Shef-em - okay, can live with it. Expandable memory is a plus. Are there good ones that will take SD cards?

Thanks in advance guys.

there is only one okay sort of flip in this range and that is Nokia 6131...but it has big battery problem which is very weak

otherwise Nokia 6233 is your best bet

^^ Sure it is and is 3K more expensive too :P

Plus it has features that the Doc really doesnt need (2MP cam, PTT, etc) and adds 21 gms more to the weight of the samsung variant..

Another point to note, is that the SE handset supports only M2 sticks which are very expensive still, and the Samsung model mentioned supports MicroSD, which is now really dirt-cheap!

And sorry if its annoying, but IMHO Sliders are anyday hotter than clamshells! :D

Thanks for your replies guys. I am indebted.

I had a look at a few yesterday:

Nokia 6233 - formal looks, nonnonsense business like. Haven't checked out the Nokia site. The vendor was saying you can't install anything into it? Apps and such? True?

SE W700i - Nice, but do they have any other color in it? A darker shade? Black?

SE W550i - Vendor was pushing it, but kind of chunky. I don't seem to like swiwel phones just as I dislike sliders (no offense to anyone). What do you think of this?

W600i - Just saw it on the SE website, looks just like the W550i. What's the difference here?

W810i - The prices have come down to around 13.5K? But without the speakers? Speakers, does one need them with a cellphone?

Z550i - Well, I thought the phone fitted my bill perfectly. Only problem, my elder brother just bought on the other day - I can't own a clone of that one :bleh:

Anyway things are getting clearer for my fuzzy mind:

1. I would want something "different" compared to my older K700i (VGA camera, Transistor radio - :ohyeah: ; MP3 player; no expandable memory; candybar looks.

2. I want something that "stands out" - if possible.

3. I think I don't like Samsung. They must make good phones, but somehow I tend to associate Samsung with washing machines, color monitors, TVs and the like - for a phone Samsung (and LG) still don't convince me. :bleh:

4. Side thought - What about a Blackberry phone. Like a 7100g and even if I don't use the email features - how will that be?
