guys i have an wd 160gb blue hdd and it was recently rma'ed and got new one but since yesteday the hdd is got bad
i dont know what is bad :S in it.

when trying to install windows on it it gives following error's

1. Error code : 0x80070570

2. Failed to format the selected partition [ Error :0x80070057]

what do u think on this ,

is it dead or what ?

+ when i checked it with wd lifeguard software , it pass it and i even tried 0 formatting

one more thing, the 149gb out of 160 is usable and in that 149gb, system reserved name drive of 100mb is created automatically and is acessable but the other one with 148gb is not acessable nor formatable

plz help..

With which software you partitioned the hdd ?. You did it with windows itself while installing or with some 3rd party software ??.

that 100 mb partition is no problem as windows creates it.
try to attach this drive in any other system and partition and format it with thisPartition Wizard Home Edition - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com
than your problem should go

Try booting with Linux and checking. Also try using Windows 7.

That seems to be a DVD Drive read error. Could be your drive or disk. Try installing from a USB pen Drive. Also quite simply just pop in a Ubuntu live CD and use Gparted to create your partition. IT will work quite easily.
