This driver supports all ALC series audio chipsets from ALC100 up to ALC861. It is used as onboard sound on many motherboards.
Most hardware manufacturers recommended you download the latest official (non beta) drivers on a regular basis to keep your computer running correctly.
You should try and set a restore point before installing any new drivers, so you can roll back in case of problems.

Since nvidia gave up on Soudstorm, their boards don't allow one to easily install these.
On my A7N8X-X,any attempts to install these results in a BSOD.Not that I am complaining, nvidia's recent drivers are better and have a much better interface, now that they conc. on AC'97 parts also.

Just for othr ppl............Installed these with no problems on a nforce4 ultra board....
nd thr is certainly a diff with nvdia provided drivers nd realtech ones......
had also seen forums with topic's (alot) whr evry1 opted for these.

The old realtek drivers used to be better. But since nvidia dropped SS support, their AC'97 drivers have improved greatly and are better than the realtek ones. Not to mention they have a much nicer UI and integrate seemlessly with nvidia driver pack.
I have many problems with people not being able to install realtek drivers greater than version 3.56.Those and b4 work fine even on my mobo.
