Hi,

I have bought Dell U2412m from seller @Mainak777 from this sale thread

http://www.techenclave.com/sell-trade-products/dell-ultrasharp-u2412m-ips-monitor-145316/

Yesterday I have received the monitor and today I have opened and connected it to my desktop. When windows loading I have noticed few color distorted pixels on the screen, I'm posting pics of those below:

The seller mentioned it is in pristine condition in the sale thread. When asked I asked for the pics, he posted few pics where the monitor showing the Windows XP desktop screen. I have just sent him a PM with the pics, he replied back saying

i didnt have any dead pixels at the time of shipping to you..i also take pics when you asked me..there were no dead pixels at that time...

In the sale thread, the name from the Invoice "Rohit Bhargava" is not @Mainak777 friend. I just confirmed that from Mr. Rohit Bhargava. He sold it ti @Mainak777 and Mr.Rohit confirmed it to me. In the PM @Mainak777 told he was selling it behalf of his friend. And the monitor was bought by MrRohit from Hyderabad and then he sold it to @Mainak777 then to me :( .

Mods, please help me in resolving this issue. If required I'll post our entire PM conversation here.

Thanks,
Kishore

@aneeshcphilip Thank you. I'll have to do that. But my intention is people will have to think before buying any item from Mr @Mainak777 . And I don't think he is going to give any refund for my inconvenience, because he is stating that after shipping he doesn't hold any responsibility.

Fact is those pixel problems in LED/LCD screens will come from factory, not in shipping. And he lied about the sale by saying he was selling it be-half of a friend. He is also not disclosed about the monitor he is selling is third hand. I mean I was the third buyer.

u should have asked pics of monitor with black and white wallpaper accordingly before making payment... or a video of monitor working on black and white background to confirm abt color production....

Look..that monitor my friend bought not me..he bought it from eBay & it was shipped to my location since his location is in some interior place..you can go & check with eBay from which account the money was paid..its the same bank account in which you deposit the money..my friends account..i just sold from his behalf..i didn't make any profit..When i got that monitor i checked in Notepad to see Dead Pixel but i didn't see any...I mentioned in my thread that i don't have any PC now at this time..i didn't use that monitor..you asked me to show me pics with monitor on i provided..you didn't ask for any other pics...that night you asked me about dead pixel i said no cause i don't see any when i checked first time in notepad..

You said i sold it cause of Dead Pixel..when i have about 3 years warranty left why i would do that?? i can easily RMA it before i put it on sale thread..Did you try to negotiate this over pm or anything ? no ..you didn't..i even asked you in PM what you want me to do now...but you just didn't reply me back..

@aneeshcphilip yes, I agree with you. I should have asked but that idea didn't came in my mind :(
@Mainak777 I'm not saying you sold it because of those pixels, all I'm saying is you should have mentioned these things in the sale thread. How can notepad window shows any problematic pixels? I'm not saying you didn't provided pics with the monitor turned on. I'm not complaining about your communication also. I have bought few things from our fellow forum member from sale threads and directly. Never had any problems. This is a lesson for me. If this is a small amount I shouldn't have cared. Amount is huge and now I have to spend my time and money for the RMA process. That is the problem.

guys,

I think as a buyer you should have done enough homework to understand what needs to be asked for and taken care while buying a second hand monitor specially when you yourself believe that the money involved is huge.

As a seller you still own the responsibility of dead pixels as these are not damages intransit and its hard to believe that u arent aware of this especially after you have booted your monitor with your notepad, unless its somewhere in the middle that might have covered by the windows logo while bootup. (Obviously Windows has black screen on bootup)

Note:: Its not notepad application that he is talknig about, its the notepad/laptop that he connected the monitor to, to get you the pics :)

I didn't notice any Dead Pixel while the windows is booting ...not when i checked this first time..when i already have warranty left why i would sale it when i can easily RMA it..if anyone believe or not i am honestly saying that i didn't notice any dead pixel at all & i told this to the buyer over the phone..

I am not suspecting you here, but just to answer your question.

Maybe you did try RMA and you were refused ?

@ rakesh_ic, i think the dude was referring to the notepad application, not the notebook PC.

I think this is just a matter of chance that this situation occurred. I trust seller because I recently bought a phone from him and he tried his best to resolve any issue. He kept giving me updates about shipping and also helped me resolve some other issues. He seemed a genuine guy. So requesting the buyer to have some faith on him and apply for RMA.

@aquaticbullet Thanks Mate..

AFAIK they will come take your old unit and leave a new/refurbished unit at your house. There is no chance of rma refusal in case of dell monitors. I would advise the op to go for rma.

As long as the item is under warranty , i dont know how a second or third hand condition matters . The buyer did send you pics with monitor on , if they were not clear about dead pixels you should have asked some more pics which gives more details on the monitor condition . I dont find the buyer at any fault here , instead of PM'ing him you directly opened a thread against him . And secondly whenever you are buying a item with/without warranty always ask for a 3 days testing warranty on reciept of item . That way even if its DOA or any other issues you can send it back and the seller may claim warranty on same and then again put it on sale or send it to you back .

@fLUX I have not complained about second hand or third hand. As I said in my earlier post, problem is now I have to put some time to get the RMA done and may have to spend little more money. And if the seller has mentioned that this monitor needs RMA, then things may have gone different. If I'm selling something I'll surely know if it has any problems. Especially in this case, he or his friend should have known the problem in the monitor while Windows loading or whenever black screen appears. As you see in the pics those pixels are noticeable. If I should have taken it under three days testing warranty, to send it back to the seller it is not a small item :( I'll be losing the shipping amount, the amount I paid for the item will be with seller and time. Thanks.

Two things.
1. krisballa Dell provides on-site warranty on all monitors. That means the monitor will be replaced at your place. You will not have to carry it anywhere. No money involved as you mentioned.
2. I can vouch for Mainak777 as a seller. Bought an S2 from him a couple of months ago. No issues, whatsoever.

@tufel Thanks for the information. It'll be good if there is no money involved. It has been 6 days and till today I have not got time to call Dell for the RMA :( . I don't know what I'm missing here to mention, but all my intention is, If I'm selling something or giving service to a client/customer I always keep in mind that I have to give the customer/client good quality item/service. Which is happened in your case except mine. May be I'm wrong here buying without knowing "how to buy things" :( . The seller has not shown any courtesy on explaining things till today except saying "The monitor doesn't have any defects till the time of shipment".

Mods can close this thread now. Thank you.

What you want me to explain?? I already said i didn't notice any DEAD PIXEL when i checked the monitor for first time with notepad...when you asked me for pics that day i posted pics with monitor on....I have provided enough pics in my sale thread..if you wanted to see more you would have tell me about that..i didn't cheat or lie to you neither i made any profit from this...when you asked me about dead pixel that night on phone i told you NO cause i didn't see any when i did check before..you could have show some courtesy by trying to solve it over pm rather than just open a complain thread against me...
