Don't buy right away... its not really worth it. wait for the r520. Or else get the 7800GT evga bundle for around 420$ that has a 7800GT card and an sli mobo.

stormblast you can order that x800 xt PE (or is it x850 XT PE) from the ATI website. (informed here on TE first by Bottle) it is for around $230. it is refurbished but it has 3 years warranty from ATI. so it is as good as new.

But remember It is an AGP model:ashamed:

chaos give me the link to the bundle deal. i found the 7800gt on evga site for 450$. kinda steep. my budget is max 400$ i might be able to go to 420$.

also deejay give me the link to the ati site also i couldnt find it on the ati site. (i dont mind agp if its so cheap since i already own a agp mobo)

cant complain , not much overclock headroom though. could be that it needs better cooling or more volts

i think there are better cards out there now compared to when i got it in may, 7 series for example

theres an x850xtpe selling for 420 on newegg ;)

heres a link to the refurb cards : click

the evga deal has been posted in the forums a few times but heres a link to their site , good deal imo

see here

they have only x800pro in refurb. that sux.

& rather than spending 420$ on a x850xtpe i rather get a 7800gt.

btw 7800gt has 16 or 20 pipelines.

true you can pick one up for less than $400 but no agp at the moment i guess , so you ll need a board and cpu as well i guess.

20 pipes

At the EVGA site, buy a 7800GT and the board gets automatically added at 0 cost. There was a newegg deal for cheaper (~430$) but it seems to have disappeared now :(. Also AT has a review of the jetway board (same as EVGA) and it seems to be a monster overclocker

Edit: 7800GT = 20 shader pipes + 16 raster ops
7800GTX = 24 shader pipes + 16 raster ops

damn now the 7800gt seems really tempting with the free board.

any idea if evga site accepts international credit cards?

are the x800xt refurb cards gone from the ati site?

The refurbs are gone cos they probably ran out of stock. Not sure abt the evga thingie. Why don't u try to check out. They'll mention modes of payment there i guess. The total cost is 449$+13$ shipping.

Are you sure on buying an ATi card cause I would suggest a 6800GT as prices are really on the sweeter side considering the 7 series launch...

the 6800gts still cost around 280 - 300$ i rather buy the ati aiwx800xt for 330$ if i am gonna spend 300$ on the 6800gt.

& thinking of 330$ i rather buy a 7800gt with sli mobo for 450$. lol

have mailed evga asking if they will accept int. credit card. lets see what happens.

can any1 give me the direct comparison of 6800gt, ultra, 7800gt & ultra.

Hi,
i cant give you exact details but i have real life expereance of ATI and Nvidia cards.

i had ATI XT 850 XT PE  card with P4 D-3.2 GHz and 2 GB DDR-II with 400+400 GB in RAID 0 but still my score was 5800+ something in 3D Mark 05.
that may be mobo problem but that was a horrible score.

where as XPS laptop with 6800ultra mobile chip on it and it scored 5785 :O in 3D Mark 05. :cool2: :cool2: :cool2:

man it is a score on a laptop so you can imagine full powered AMD system with good powerful mobo and then you apply 6800 Ultra or 7800.... :)

so i will say better stay away from ATI cards...... :@ :@ :@
go for 6800GT atleast or ultra and if you have enough moeny then 7800.... :D

Just because you don't know how to tweak ur pentium D system, don't blame ATI for bad products. Until the 7800 series, ATI cards were the most powerful single cards available. Bottle managed close to 6.5K on his AIW X800XT. So if you give that card to him, he'll easily get 7.5K which is a killer score. Accept the fact that your pentium D is a useless chip.

you cant just blame Pentium D
i said the mobo may be the problem but i am very much impressed by 6800 ultra mobile chip score.

Tweaking Pentium D..... :ohyeah: :ohyeah:
on origional Intel kinda of boards please tweak and tell me..... :S

i am not blaming ATI cards just like that.
on same system Nvidia 6800 ultra card has scored more than 6500+
so what you say...
i have tried all drivers and ATI tuner utilities.. :ashamed:

i will definetly like to see ATI 850 XT PE card score 7500 in 3D mark 05.
if i get chance to stay for more than 2 weeks in india then i will bring this card with me and lets see the score...........

do you mean you ve tried both a 6800 ultra and a x850 xt pe on the same system and the x 850 get a lower score ?

k now this is a big confusion. should i get the 7800gt or 7800gtx. i did the see the performance. & the gtx was quite better & even beat a 7800gt sli card in 2-3 tests. also the 4extra pipelines will really make a diff. the main thing i want to know. is the evga nf4 sli mobo worth it. or will i have probs with the board etc. is the board crap or as good as the other sli boards regarding performance.
i am not asking the performance in ocing but the regular stock performance. i dont oc the processor a lot & i dont think ill be ocing a 7800.

if the board is crap then i might not get it. checking the jetway board reviews which seems to be the oem board.

the x800's dont really OC very well...except maybe the X850XT

I would reccomend the 6800GT if your planning on overlocking....or

6800Ultra>>>6800GT Bios for the tighter ram timings

The board shud be good since EVGA has a reputation for good products.Typically the difference between a 7800GT and GTX is around 10-12%.
