Recommend a TV with great picture quality

I'm looking for a 55" or 65" TV for our living room. The viewing distance is 2.5 - 3 meters.

I've always thought TV is just a TV, so I was thinking of getting any LG or Sony and calling it a day, but I thought I'd better ask you all first.

Also when it comes to cheaper brands like TCL, Hisense, Haier, Vu, Kodak, etc. which brand can you trust for a reliable service in case something happens?

My budget is 50k. I can stretch to maximum 80k if a some really good TV is available for a highly discounted price.

For a TV buy the one with longest warranty. Most parts in today's tv cannot be repaired and they just replace the whole unit at least as far as I have seen.
That's good advice, thanks! What brand do you recommend that's known to honor warranty claims? I don't want to end up with something that offers 5-year warranty but when the time comes the brand makes it very problematic to get anything done :/

Models I would recommend to demo would be: TCL C755 & Hisense U7N. Also support from brand varies from location, I know TCL has good support service in Chennai. Sony, LG and Samsung also would be safer choices.

U7N is last year's model. U7Q has launched. I would recommend that based on the past few years' U series performance.

OP, if your budget allows, get an OLED. Once you go OLED, there is no going back. Next is miniLED. The TCL C755 and the two Hisense models mentioned are miniLED and are quite close to OLED picture quality without the risk of burn-in that OLED comes with. Don't go for any random QLED range that all brands have as entry point models.

If you time your purchase right at the launch of a new flagship model or during big sales like Diwali or Amazon Prime Day, the flagship TVs often come with extra warranty at no cost or very low cost, compared to when you buy them during no-sale periods.

For a true next level picture on TV you would need to go for OLED...and for that you will either need to up your budget or lower your tv size in favor of OLED
I have been using S90D samsung 65' for a year now and OLED is not hype it is actually a whole new level of quality

The number of zones in hisense u7q are downgraded to:

55/65” no zones listed, 900 nits
75” 240 dimming zones, 900 nits
85” 352 dimming zones, 1000 nits
100” 608 dimming zones, 1000 nits

The U7K had 1296 zones. This is 2 years later at higher price and way worse specs. I may be wrong here, but from what I know, till last year Hisense would launch the exact models in India that they did in the US. A U7K in the US would be a U7K in India. One to one mapping. Same for last year's U7N. But this year they seem to have done some trickery and selling lower end models here.

65". It comes with 100 or 120 refresh rate . Deep blacks.
Thank you all for your help.

Based on @k_m_Arya and @buzz88 's advice, Hisense miniLED seems to be the best option. I like the slight compromise in picture quality than OLED for much cheaper price and reduced risk of burn-in.

I will not get the U7Q due to reasons pointed out by @k_m_Arya. Is it okay to get an older model if I find it locally? U7N is out of stock online. Is there any major disadvantage to buying a one or two years older model? Other than maybe getting a slightly inferior processor, I don't think there's any other disadvantage, right? Besides, even if the processor is slow that's easily fixable with a Fire Stick or Apple TV...
Vu masterpiece series. 65". It comes with 100 or 120 refresh rate . Deep blacks.
Do you own this model? How is your service experience with VU?

We will be avoiding Samsung since my brother pointed out they don't have Dolby Vision support on any of their TV's. Might get LG OLED in case we end up stretching our budget. The cheapest model is 55" for 1.1L.

True no Dolby vision support for samsung but it has hdr and hdr+. I have never seen any reviewer complaining about loss of quality due to these formats, and I havent seen any complaints there too.

They are much better priced in India compared to the LG ones especially offline and during Diwali where you get 3 years extended warranty for free. (are priced higher compared to lg outside India).
For example i got my s90d new 65 inch with 3 years extended warranty at 150k last diwali

Mmmm, that's a really good deal for a 65 inch OLED. You got it offline? Was it a brand name offline store like Croma / Reliance Digital, etc. or some local only store?

For this budget , just get the maximum amount you can afford on HISENSE SERIES TV.

Have LG C1 OLED , and got a hisense for my mom , the black levels and clarity were really good.

Others simply have greater price because of brand name. Previous TV for my mom was also Hisense , i broke it accidentally.. so got her hisense , really satisfied.

@ninjenstein TV hardware doesn't change that much in a year tbh go with either Hisense u7n or c755 both are 2024 models, so you are not missing on most features also tbh. Major pain point with Hisense would be the vidaa os so you would have to either go for a firestick or some other android box if you want good app support.

Do you own this model? How is your service experience with VU?
No, i dont own this model, I was in looking for a new TV, to replace my old VU Tv which is 7 - 8 years old. I saw the performance in Lulu mall and compared it with other TV. As the size was too big for my use, i did not go, and i have not yet changed my old VU TV.

My recommendations:

1. Stay away from Android TV (eventually they will start performing slow in a span of few years). Instead look for Linux based OS such as Vida which comes with Hisense, TCL, etc.
2. With the same budget in mind, I purchased Hisense U7H in 2022 and it is working flawlessly, OS performance is still top notch like day 1. I am sure there are better and new versions available from Hisense and other similar brands.
3. If you can stretch a little for 60-70K, go for any old gen OLED TV. All these 4K with mini led, etc are still way behind the picture quality for any OLED screen.

PS: Many TV these days are coming with 120-240Hz refresh rates as well, if you have any plans for Xbox/PS5 in future to use on your TV, make sure you also check these high refresh rate TV(s).
