I installed Skyrim and to say the least the experience was terrible, so Ive decided to upgrade my graphics card. Since I have a PSU which barely support this config, I think iI definitely need to upgrade it too.
Ive considered Radeon 6670 though Im confused which make should I get MSI or Sapphire. I don’t about the noise generated I only want performance. I don’t have any knowledge of either of their ASS. If its similar Id prefer MSI only because of its looks.
Regarding the PSU Ive considered PSU SeaSonic S12II 430 W its the maximum I can accommodate in my budget. I am welcome to any better suggestions.

One more thing my 8600GT is DDR3 and 6670 is DDR5, so will I able to be fully utilize DDR5 considering my motherboard (it is PCIe x16 Gen 2.x).

ps I will be buying this in December 1st week

Re: Gpu + psu

If your are going to play games at 1366x768 reso then you can go for either sapphire 6670-5.5k then corsair cx430 v2-2.2k will be enough for that,if you can stretch your budget a little then you can get sapphire hd 6770-6.5k+corsair cx 430v2-2.2k or seasonic s12ii 430v-2.6k,seasonic psu has 5 year warranty and it can handle the gpu upto hd6850,but if you are not going to upgrade your gpu then there is no use of getting seasonic pus, corsair cx430 v2 will suffice for both 6670 or 6770,you will get a better fps with HD 6770,so 6770+corsair cx 430v2=8.7k would be a better choice if you want to play games at very high+msaa settings otherwise 6670 will handle the game at high settings.

Re: Gpu + psu

bro for skyrim better consider hd5770 or hd6770 its just slightly out of your budget and as the above poster said for that rig you will be fine with the cx 430 too but keeping future upgradeability in mind you might want to consider a 500+ psu(don't consider this if you are absolutely sure that you are not going to upgrade anytime soon....

Re: Gpu + psu

thinking of increasing my budget to 9k. HD 6770+Seasonic 430W

I want to know any nVidia options available in this range ie GPU of 7k MAX

Re: Gpu + psu

at that resolution , a hd6770 will be more than enough to play all the latest games..

when it comes to budget cards .. amd is a much better choice since they price their cards well!

Re: Gpu + psu

Any thoughts on MSI N450GTS Cyclone 1GD5 @ Rs.7,100/- it costs only 200 more

--- Updated Post - Automerged ---

plus it has physx. does it make any noticeable difference?

Re: Gpu + psu

No point in getting gts450 If you have better performing hd6770 at less price-http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/296?vs=316,get sapphire hd6770+seasonic s12ii 430w-9.1k

imo go with msi...i love their after sales service and quality...

i sent my gtx 460 for rms and sevice centre guys send me back the same faulty one so i just talked to msi rma department manager and he arranged a replacement card in just 5 days....

Sapphire A.S.S is better compared to MSIs and the cooling, less power consumption and has better built quality compared to msi. It's better to get seasonic s12ii 430w psu over cx430, you are suggesting cx430 which not 80+ certified, seasonic psu has 5 year warranty and it's 80+ bronze,op can upgrade till hd6850/6870 with this psu,so as i said earlier get sapphire 6770+seasonic s12ii 430w.

MSi has 3 years warranty while Sapphire has 2 yrs also MSI (SMARTLINK NETWORK SYSTEMS LIMITED ) and Sapphire (Aditya Infotech Ltd .) both have outlets in Pune since the price difference is not much (Rs 250 msi is cheaper), so which ones is a wise choice considering the warranty period and A.S.S.

It's better to go with sapphire aditya ifotech,i have personally rmaed my gpu once without hiccup and with sapphire you will get better built quality.

you are kiddng right...

you said saphire's cooling is good...well if you buy the stock reference version of any graphic card you will get similar cooling by msi or saphire...and if you are considering custom cooler equipped cards then msi leaves saphire in the dust with its hawk and tf2/3 and lightning series....

and about build quality..msi aces in that department too(thsi again is subject to matter....depends on what you are comparing...comparing custom saphire cooling and quality with reference msi gpu is just absurd)...

and about rma msi fares better as it is more widespread than saphire....

Doesn't matter if the msi has more coverage or anything if the A.S.S is questionable, there are few users here who have had problems because of the built quality of msi gpu, sapphire is top notch in delivering quality gpu, cooling won't be an issue since op won't be overclocking this gpu, sapphire is better in the low power consumption section compared to msi.so it's better to get sapphire, for non oc'ng purpose.

again you have one wrong assumption....

2 same gpu's at same clocks be it from msi or saphire eat same amount of power....so if msi n saphire model are at same clock then both have same power consumption

get it..so stop spreading such misinformation...(im smelling favoritism here)

Sapphire has 3 years warranty, I dont know how, but shops like prime in lammy do mention three years warranty and even I have taken a written note on the bill for the same.. As far as 6790 and 6850 reference cards, Sapphire cooling is better to Msi's... Now here I am talking of reference cards only.... The top end cooling solutions like Vapor X from sapphire or Cyclone/Hawk/Twin frozr from MSI are top notch....

Considering that OP needs 6770, then either may be the choice... Sapphire as well Msi both have decent 6770's... So depending upon service in or close to your area, you may purchase Sapphire or Msi...
