Hi,
i am looking for a decent Graphics card (NEW) in the 6-7k range, in Mumbai. Pci-e, 256mb minimum and i dont really care if its not the 8800 series.

Need it for my Son's gaming machine.

XFX 8500GT for 6k

Is there a equivalent (peer) for 8500GT from the ATI stable ?
Also, I am told that ATI cards in general are more suitable for watching movies.
What do you feel ?

Ati DX card are not yet fully launced they are still in the hands of testers  so better you be off with XFX or anyother 8500 GT version of graphics card.. They are newly released mid/low end DX10 capable graphics card ...:ohyeah: :bleh:

Yeah..get the 8500 GT...no point in going for the 7600 GS (6k) or GT (7.5k) even if they fall in the same price band...getting a dx10 card makes more sense now...:)

hey i too am interested in purchasing a 8500gt/8600gt. are these avlble in mumbai? would help if the shops name & location are also indicated.
thnks.

Edit: pl. don't mention Rashi. they r obscenely costly :(

dont know about prices in india... i took one from singapore and it is cheap.
8800GTS 320 mb costs 14k there vs 19-21k here.
i got 8600GTS OC edition for 9100 rs only. if it is avaliable for 11-12k here in india then go for it if it is above 13-14k then better you buy it from outside.

Imho, 8500 gt and 8600GT are just an excuse for getting into the dx10 bandwagon..else, i seriously think they lack fire...they remind me of the FX series gfx cards..though they were DX 9.0 compliant, they were one of the worst series by nvidia...they simply lacked performance..

And given the low price at which the 8500 GT and 8600 GT are selling..it is hardly a surprise..

True, and the GTS is going to be a failure considering how the 8800gts is priced at just a few more thousand bucks. The pricing is 8500 and 8600GT is sorta OK but the GTS pricing is a complete failure!

Where can one get Palit 7600GT in Hyd .... Most shops here at CTC quote unreasonable prices for a gfx card.
