i need to buy a laptop for a friend

I need you to recommend me a good sturdy laptop for everyday use(no Gaming, No HD playback)

1) What is your budget?

30K INR at max

2) What size notebook would you prefer?

anything bigger than 14"

Weight no bar

3) Which country will you buying this notebook?

India (kolkata)

4) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?

Dell,HP,Lenovo,Compaq or any company with considerable presence and support in India

5) What are the primary tasks will you be performing with this notebook?

Very basic Computational purposes

Internet surfing, EBook Reading (university student)

No Games, No HD Playback

7) Will you be playing games on your notebook?

No Games

8) How many hours of battery life do you need?

Moderate

9) Would you prefer to see the notebooks you're considering before purchasing it or buying a notebook on-line without seeing it is OK?

I would like to make the purchase on first hand experience

10) What OS do you prefer? Windows (XP or Vista or Windows 7), Mac OS, Linux, etc.

Windows 7 , Bundled OS not required

would prefer a bare laptop without OS

11) What screen resolution(s) would you prefer?

would depend on the screensize
