PC Peripherals Recommend Me a PSU - 800 to 1300 INR

Hello

This system back at my father`s place have had its Power Supply Unit(PSU) blown out.

The SMPS earlier being used was the stock SMPS that came with this Umax Cabinet, of rating 450 Watts
So he need to buy a new SMPS :-

Please recommend me a low end SMPS in the price range Rs. 800 - Rs. 1300.

The system configuration is : Core 2 Duo Proccesor, Asus P5B Mobo, XFX 8600 GT 1 GB DDR2, 2 GB Ram, 250 GB HDD

The system is a normal home destop, only used for the purpouse of Word Processing (documents) and basic browsing etc.

You're lucky that it didn't bring the house down !! A C2Q, dedicated graphic card on that shitty PSU?? And it may not be lucky the 2nd time around - get a Gigabyte 460 Superb at the least
 
@OP

Please invest some more to get a good psu, at least a Corsair CX 400 to avoid this type of accident in the future. You are lucky that the psu dint blow up some other hardware.

My bad, its actually a Core 2 Duo and not Quad core.

Well I can understand the rant, but its not my fault totally however I wont go into the details :P (for me I prefer good stuff for my system which is pretty visible from my signature).

Also there is an availability issue in the place he is, so I asked of in that range as I knew before hand the Coolermaster, Corsair and Antec PSU will be possibly not available.

I have collected together the recommeneded ones, will wait for some other recommends.

And henceforth redirect the information to him.
 
Where does your dad stay? Perhaps people can give suggestions based on where he's located.

No point in us giving good suggestions, and then buying something else in haste if its not there.
 
if your father uses it for normal daily usage, it makes sense to disconnect the GPU and other needless hardware

and go for FSP Saga II 350/400

else if you want to keep your system as is, then its gonna cost much more than your current budget :)
 
Well I called him and recommended to go for

Corsair CX 400

or

Gigabyte 460 Superb

In tha priority and order of availability. I guess VX 400 is around Rs 2600, though not sure can anybody give the quote (I bought VX 450 for my own rig few months back for Rs.3400) Also if somebody can give qoute for Gigabyte 460 Superb it would be nice.
 
That place doesnt has none - Corsair, Coolermaster, Antec, Seasonic, Gigabyte, FSP..............what the hell.

The only thing they know is Frontech, iBall, Intex duah they dont even specialises in making SMPS

I think I will recommend dad to use some SMPS in the meantime, while I will buy a CX 400 from here(chennai) and send it with a person going there on 8th of June.

K I will be going to market this weekend, and since so is the case I have decided to buy a new 2 TB HDD(a new thread coming on it so hold on)

Also my own System`s UPS - APC 650 Watt battery is dead doesnt seem to take the load a bit, I cant even start my system. Any idea how much its battery will cost me?(pardon me if I am going off tpic with this statement)
