hi guys, i'm getting a new tv for my newhouse. main usage is heavy ps3 gaming/blueray and some casual tv surfing. from what i read, is plasma better in this field compare to lcd?

not very tight on budget and planning to get 42 inches.

viewing distance 2m, lighting system neutral, but more to the bright side. angle of viewing is tilted downside due to my low platform bed.

i'm keen of getting panny py800h since it's good and cheap. what's your say guys?

thanks!

well actualy for gaming its better to go for a lcd then a plasma, assuming u can afford the panasonic py800 then ur budget should be about a lakh or so,u should go in for the upcoming samsung B650a series of lcd or the upcoming sony w550a or we5 series.if budget isnt a issue and u can't wait longer then the samsung led lcd tv priced at about mrp1.25lakh should also be fine its just a normal b650 series with led backlight/edgelight.all this assuming ur budgets is about 1.25lakh or less.

hi adder,

thanks for replying! i'll sure to check those tv that u recommended via online. i'm getting the tv within this few days ;) lcd wise, samsung series 40 inches 750 looks good too!

Well, i do have a question. For a person like me who know nuts about technology, i've read a lot of threads which explain plasma > lcd in term of picture quality, just that they suffer in some burn in which is no longer an issue.

ps3 gaming and blueray movies are counted as moving subject i suppose, with reference to the superiority in static image for lcd?

well plasmas aren't recommended for gaming because of the possibilty of burn in,image retention etc.even the 09 plasmas are not immune to burn in,while the chances of a burn in have reduced significantly, they still aren't imune.
and for gaming lcds look better due to the 3d soap opera effect or simply more 3d like because there images are more crisp, the ultimate tv should give images as good as our eyes and lcd images are closer to that goal then plasmas(offcouse the images of todays tvs are still a long way behind the real life like our eyes) .
as far as moving subjects todays lcds are a match for any plasmas, models such the sony x450A series and z450 series can show full 1080lines of motion resolution ,in samsung the new series b750 and 8 series led tv upwards can show full 1080lines of motion resolution.again in plasmas not all can show full 1080lines of motion resolution.
