Recover data from a formatted disk

I have a friends laptop which crashed on her yesterday. Since it's a company owned system, it went straight to IT. Without any care for the data they format the drive. She has a tonne of sensitive information which is obviously important.

To even boot the laptop, im going o have to install a fresh copy of Windows 7 and then try recover the data. A preliminary look-up on Google shows me tools like EASUS which may help.

Any recommendation, suggestions? Any help is much appreciated.

As a note: The company has no problem with me meddling around with the laptop, so I assume they will trash it anyway.

that would overwrite any data partially or completely and you wont get anything in the end.
also you cant use recovery tools to recover data from the same drive the tool is installed.

just remove the hard disk from the laptop (without installing os or anything on it) and connect it inside pc and use recovery tools.
 
if u can connect that hdd to another pc/ laptop and restore data its better/ easier. Otherwise u can try using hiren bootable cd with data restore utilities. U may have to try with multiple softwares for best results. Yesterday only i restored data from SD card, used in camera using Power data recovery software. Had it scanned using Stellar phoenix software as well but it showed less files. If u still need help, pm me. I shall help u out.
