Acer officially launched the first Nvidia Ion powered computer with its nettop AspireRevo last week, and like we have been hearing for months now, the Nvidia Ion netbooks are on the way.

Pocket-Lint.com is reporting that a number of companies are preparing to announce Nvidia Ion powered netbooks in June and many of them will be available as soon as July.

The site’s source was hesitant to reveal which companies would unveil Ion netbooks, but “confirmed that there will be some big announcements from ‘key’ players at Computex, the annual PC trade show in Taipei at the beginning of June.â€

Nvidia’s Ion graphics solution combines Intel’s Atom processor with GeForce 9400M graphics. We reviewed the Ion Reference Design and were impressed with its graphics performance and are drooling to finally see it hit netbooks.

I'd like it if they put a normal C2D processor instead of a 9400M :)

Errr a full fledged CPU in place of an IGP? How does that make any sense? :S

You'd understand once you actually used a slow netbook :P . Graphics performance on an Atom doesnt interest me at all :)

@Naga, Yeah thats right.. The atom is the smallest chip from Intel right? Thats why its low power and all that. But, why not make netbook a lil bigger than it is and add a C2D. This will add performance factor to it and would definitely sell even more than an ordinary laptop I say :P

i have a netbook and still doesnt make any sense. How can a processor do the heavy graphics work instead of a gpu? You mean a C2D can beat a 9400M in pure graphics work? lol

They already have a little bigger+pricier netbooks with C2Ds, only they're called laptops.
