So my beloved 15" LCD Samsung Syncmaster 510N gone kaput after serving me for 7 years 2 weeks ago. Power LED wasnt coming on so i took it to the authorised samsung service center and service center guy said power board is dead. Replacement power board is hard to find as this model is EOL and outdated. He said will give you a call in 2-3 days if i can get it from samsung or from local market. I called up later and inquired, he said power board is not available anywhere so either you can sell it as a scrap or recycle it. because it has no value in current makret

I dont know what to do with this LCD ? Should I recycle it or sell it off somewhere in local market ? called up couple of guy but all are quoting 400-500/-
I have gone through the samsung site and they do recycle. but it is voluntary. No scheme or discount even on buy back. they have stated this in their FAQ.

this is my current HD IPS AMOLED SUPER LCED Monitor. LG Studioworks(13 years old) :bleh:
 
I have loved this model the LG Studioworks ...... fond memories (we had plenty of em at our workplace)

I paid a bomb for my 17" Samsung CRT 9 years ago & still serving me well ..... ;)

Yeah, me too using a 17inch Samsung 750s. It was part of my first (disastrous) system. Apart from that using a pair of Altec Lansing's which are due for replacement soon.

Nisarg, as for the LCD, I'll ask around and see. My neighbour had a similar Samsung which had gone kaput, so maybe its possible that I could find something here :)
 
terence_fdes bhangarwalla.com is not opening. vivek.krishnan Thanx bro. Please ask him. all i need is powerboard. Samsung guy quoted me 400-500 Rs. for it. My Altec lansing ATP3 is still going great. its been almost 5 years now. it sounds damn good.

Brother did you take me seriously !!! Apologies If I took you for a ride ...... The solution to your problem (Samsung Monitor) is limited ..... unless the power board is found from another phased out working-monitor .... it's pointless spending any money trying to repair it.

Currently, I am battling with a similar problem with my Whirlpool washing machine (15 years ..... kaput .... power board problem). Exchange value is 700-800Rs.

At least in the old days - products lasted for a long time. We need to worry about today's products, where no model is kept on the shelf for more than 8-12 months & phased out ...... what do we do when these start failing after 5-7 years !!!!

lol. even i was surprised when you mentioned bhangarwalla.com but after googlin bhangarwalla.com bhangarwala4u did came in result. So i called them up but they dont deal in electronics items. Sure its no brainer to spend money on this LCD and repair it. but i dont mind if this thing come back to life for merely 400-500 Rs. lets see if vivek can snatch out the power board from his neighbour ;)

I opened up this LCD to see the powerboard and found out part number ip-24135a power board.
Available on dhgate and ebay.com for 25-30$ + shippping. not at all worth to buy. there is no single indian site selling it.

So its time to buy new LED monitor now. suggest me best LED under 6-7K. main usage is Surfing and reading with occasional movies and videos.

@6pack now my budgate is less. lol max i can spend is 4K. any other good deal ? i dont mind smaller size.

I am using this model since feb'12, its working perfectly and the quality is also good.
also dell comes with 3 years warranty
 
CA50 Just ordered it from flipkart. IN2030M. :yahoo: That eaby one comes at same pricing after applying coupon. So ordered it from FK for reliable and faster shipping.
Bumped up the budgate after selling 2 IBM 14" CRT monitor with old 2 P3 System for total 2000/-
And I will recycle this Samsung Syncmaster 510N to either samsung or http://www.ecsenvironment.com/
 
@CA50 Dont have dedicated GPU. I am using onboard only. Gigabyte 880GM UD2H. Board has DVI output. would it make any difference if i use DVI ?
