According to import games retailer Lik Sang, a redesigned Nintendo DS system may be announced next week. Famitsu magazine recently hinted that a Nintendo system would be getting revamp, and considering Nintendo's incessant desire for handheld updates, a Nintendo DS: SP is a definite possibility.
Lik Sang is reporting that a formal announcement could be made as early as Jan 16, and rumors from Spong.com speculate on a cell-phone inspired, clamshell design.
Worldwide sales of the DS have reached the 13 million mark, and skyrocketing demand has resulted in extremely limited supply in certain regions.
