Its damn irritating..At 4am im searching for something urgently and hoping to get some sleep, and i hav to wait 60 damn seconds for another search...

Irritating to the core:@

Something like 15secs or 20 secs would be appropriate and serve the purpose too..

30 seconds should be the upper limit, even that is pushing it a bit. It's hard to believe how long a minute is when you're just sitting there waiting for it to pass.
 
I've been asking this for ages. the last time i complained (immediately after the makeover) I was told that the 60 second wait is a temporary measure , and that some tweaks were being done.

still no idea when it will be reduced. The forum is virtually unusable to me in this shape

jokes apart it should be reduced to 30 sec ....its sometimes really frustrating :@
 
The standard reply from the mods is gonna be that searches are very server intensive and hence search would be limited to once in 60 seconds only :P

And that makes the forum pretty useless if you're searching for some old stuff that you know is lying around somewhere..:@

I believe there are other ways to reduce the load, like a caching system for new posts, ie:- the cache system generates a new posts page every 5minutes and gives the same in every search in those 5minutes..would help in stabling the load and if a person i looking out for a particular thread he can always refresh that thread for latest updates..:D
 
i think it just keeps making it worse. Initially we had a 30 second wait, and that too is on the generous side. Agreed we had server load problems , but because of this, very few folks, not just the newbies, regular members, and possibly the mods just start off with a thread instead of searching for the old stuff. And so we get more and more redundant threads and posts, and now it takes 60 seconds to search. I think this problem is only going to get worse

Yea 30sec is peak for advanced search!!!!

(New Posts n new market posts timer can be kept at 60sec if load is such a problem)
 
Apart from whatever the guys have said above, the search itself doesn't provide with the most accurate results, have to fiddle with the keywords a few times to get the results, if at all.
 
Cannot control accuracy of the result, it is as good as the keyword.

At present the cache is not enabled and it contributes to high server load. It will be enabled soon. Maybe by this weekend. Nevertheless we will look at measures to bring it down.
