TechEnclave gets a welcome mention in a 'The Times of India' article regarding Google Adsense (the website advertisement program).
The full version of the article can be read at epaper.timesofindia.com by selecting the mumbai edition (14th April) and then International Page 31.

We have even started getting queries regarding the same.
However there were some anomalies in the article concerned. The precise version of that as told by Safin should read somewhat different. The adsense was implemented way back on the site and has certainly helped in supporting it but its not self sufficient yet. There are mounting server and license cost and we still have a hard time controlling those. Each month the hosting alone drains more than what we earn.

Well to cut the long story short and coming to the point.. Earning through google adsense is not as easy as the article makes it to be. In fact it is not at all easy. There are ways to cheat google (and get lifetime ban) but lets not even get close to discussing that.

There are thousands of things that we have done and implemented over the years that has helped us reach this stage and there is no secret formula to this.
How to implement the adsense program is all over the internet but to earn through adsense you must have a good hit rate, i.e. a lot of people visiting your site which is possible only when you have good content. Yes it all comes down to content. And then hope that all those visitors click on the banner ads by google.
Now if a site like TechEnclave finds it hard to make money out of the thousands of pages and unique visitors each day, not to mention the good search engine optimizations that we have implemented, then I guess it is self explanatory.

PS1: We dont work on TE in our spare time as mentioned in the article. In the spare time we do everything else.
PS2: The spelling of Datta is wrong and safin was furious about it. :P

^^^ lmao :P

yaa just from my side.. if its so easy to make money on net... you won't see anyone of us working ;)

Yeah,
I am a newbie and noob, so was thinking of how to mention it here!!:P

I read the newspaper a day late coz i sleep when it arrives!!:ashamed:
I do keep a chk on the times intnl though coz i like tracer's articles!!

I never read chip fully, even though i had free subscription when i was into bikes!!:ashamed:

And till date, i never read Ms Kukday's:rofl: !!

Also i saw that google adsense thing only coz it mentioned making money which i need desperately as i am old and jobless:ashamed: !!

And i said to myself, hey, this is similar to what TE does to manage SOME of its expenses!!:cool2:
But never knew the actual :( figures till XT briefed me abt it later!!

Damn, was i furious- Women- they always mess up stuff!!
She either did that by mistake or it was on purpose to bring more attention to her article!!:@

I was worried that inspite of all the hardships that our staff has to endure to keep TE going strong, here they are maligning it (maybe unknowingly)!!

XT said it wouldn't matter coz most won't even have read it but i said if it says 'make money the easy way', 'many will' in fact:@ !!

I hope Ms. Kukday acknowledges the error in print:) !!

And Safin- you are 'Ajay Datta':P !!
My cousin is 'Anjan Dutta';) !!

p.s. Please Delete this if i have wronged somewhere!!

That article magnified our earnings from adsense by quite a few times. While this makes us feel good, its far from truth. :P

Trust me guys earning money from adsense is not half as easy as that article suggests. Infact, its exactly the opposite. Anyone having adsense for their website/blog will know what I mean.

I Wanna Know That How Does Te Work ? I Mean How Much Is The Total Amount That U Guyz Spend On This Website And How Much Do U Earn From Ads And All...... Coz In Future Maybe I Will Also Make A Site Like Te !

To the Administrators: I suggested TechEnclave to Kavita, my colleague, when she asked me whether I knew any indian people earning money via Google Ad Sense.

Apart from discussing this on the forum, please mail her all your comments as well. And send her the link to this thread. Us journalists have to learn from our mistakes right? And she won't if you don't tell her what's correct and what's incorrect.

well there is nothing like she did a mistake or anything. We have lots of costs to look at .. first a dedicated server. then costs of all the licenses. Adsense the way it works is that not many people actually click and its never the recurring people that click but the guests.. anyway only thing was that we are not exactly self sufficient atm cos of the above all as was quoted in the artticle.

Plus those wannabees opening sites, Its not exactly a walk in the park. There are better desgined and coded sites out there that don't do well.. infact flop. Adsense isn't gonna make you rich overnight or in a year or two.. perish the thought. Its hard core quality content and a solid member backing that gets people and then hope they click ads. (ofcourse seo, content targetting strategies, targetted advertising helps) but all this would still not guarantee revenues.

If you go for money.. rest assured you not gonna make it. (and i say that bein in this line for more than 5 years ;) )

I know this hard work. I have been running mobguru.com with my friend. And after we got banned from AdSense we are not exactly having a good time. but then its your space on the web :)

hi TE'ites,

i wanna know how to make money from the net particularly from google's adsense or rentacoder. i am neither a programmer nor a graphics or a web designer but i can blog for sure. i have visited many forums where people have bragged about earning $500 a month either from adsense or rentacoder. why, even the TOI late city edition of 14th April had an article on the 14th page titled "google helps u make money too", and there's a story about Mr.Ajay Dutta and his friends based in mumbai making about 300$ from adsense to help run this TE forum and make it better. so plz if u too r reading this, i need advice and step by step instructions on how to start working on adsense. i am not greedy but i am ambitious. even a $100 paycheck will serve me good. plz help.
TIA.

cha.

well its no walk in the park at rent a coder. No one will give you $$ unless you are good. esp programming sites. Although if you are good you won't earn 100's u will earn 1000's.

Having said all that what counts

1) strong skills in that language

2) real world dev experience (its tough to get that from books.. program something of your own) without it no one will give you a job as programmer. and before they give you anything they ask what have o done earlier...

3) the bottomline, there are too many guys already there who have 1) experience 2) strong skills in the skillset they like (including yours truly ;) ) You are welcome to join the party .. and you will also know how tough or easy it is.

making money from adsense.. two words.. "forget it" you can't sitting in India unless you are a big gung ho site with 1 lak + userbase and that too noobish. programming route is better but thats obviously not easy..

@mav...whatever
if you want to make real money on the net start a matrimonial, or dating or palmistry / horoscope site. You will make so much money that you could start 10 forum sites like this without hesitation.it would be like loose change.....and you would not need to do any work ....just pay some kids pocket money and they would gladly maintain it for you.;)

Mav, while generating revenue on the web is far from easy, it's worth trying... there's more than 1 way to get it right and way more than a 100 to get it wrong. I know a couple of people (1 in India) who generate a few $100 running *several* websites, but a lot of effort goes into it before you start seeing this kinda money. For me, it's not worth the effort but if you have time on hand to experiment, give it a shot.

@deejay: True, but it boils down again to the effort you're willing to put in and risk you're willing to take... setting up such websites require more effort and a positive outcome is no guarantee.
