RegCompact.NET 1.8 Registry Optimizing Tool

Source:ExperimentalScene

Description
RegCompact.NET will tweak Window's performance by optimizing the arrangement of data stored in your system's registry hives.

During the normal operation of a Windows system, registry data is constantly being written to and removed from the registry. Over time this data becomes scattered within the registry file. When information is deleted from the registry holes are left which fragment the data within the registry. Due to this, accessing a few related pieces of information from the registry during program startup could become very slow as the system needs to traverse a very large file to find the data.

RegCompact.NET solves the problem of registry fragmentation and large size by rewriting the registry hives into new files which are completely optimised and often much smaller. Your computer is restarted after the registry hives are compacted and during system startup the old, fragmented files are replaced with the newly generated and optimized ones.

It is recommended to run RegCompact.NET roughly once a month and after program installation and uninstallation to ensure your registry remains optimized.

RegCompact.NET is Open Source software, licensed under the terms of the GNU General Public License [GPL]

Requirements
Windows XP | 2000 | NT 4
Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1

Tips

To get the leanest, most compact registry possible it is best to clean the registry before you compact it. This will allow greater size reduction by RegCompact.NET by removing invalid registry entries.
RegCompact.NET creates backups of your existing registry hives when it creates the new compacted ones. They are located in the same path displayed in RegCompact.NET, with the addition of .rcbak to the original filename of the hive. You may want to delete these after compacting your registry hives and rebooting to save storage space. Also, these files are the exact same as the original hives before they were compacted, so if for some reason your system doesn't work with the compacted registry, you can use a rescue CD to replace the compacted hives with the old (*.rcbak) ones.

Hey, Nitnay! You should also mention the License, File Size, etc. along with the description of the software. Just my suggestion, though!
