Hi,

Is there any point in Registering Western Digital HDDs at their Website ?

Also I bought one WD10EADS last year and it warranty is only till 2012 (i.e 3 yrs) So any reason what that would be the case ? Also there was an option wherein if i had the receipt the warranty could to be extended or something of the same sort.

I thought all WD HDDs have 5yrs Warranty ?

Regards,

lol...shit...Checked it again..and now it shows 2014...

Ultra quick updation by WD Authorities. :bleh:... Anyways I was checking for Warranty for 2-3 HDDs so chances are that it didnt update the date..

Btw can anyone confirm if its MM/DD/YYYY or DD/MM/YYYY... I am kinda confused..

All Do i need to preserve the bill...? Even in worst case scenario..?

You do not need a bill for claiming a replacement. The bill might help you just in case a dispute arises between the buyer and seller. :P

I have 3 Seagate's 3 WD's and a maxtor. Registered all of the HDD's; no spam at all :bleh: Just register to avoid searching the serial nos at the time of logging a call :D that's all :)

its good idea to register online, else the warranty will be counted from the date of import (DOI) rather than DOS(date of sale).!

WD service is excellent. I had my 250GB HDD making noise, called tech support he correctly identified HDD issue, told me to backup data and pack it well and next day courier guy arrives, ships it to delhi, in a week I get a brand new WD Green 320GB at home. With Seagate's u gotta go thru that horrible process of long lines but they live up to their promises too.
