Reinstalling Win 7 on Sony VAIO

HI,
I want to reinstall Win 7 on my Sony VAIO EB36 laptop. I have the recovery DVD's.I have four partitions . My doubt is that If I try to reinstall Win 7 using the recovery DVD will it format all the partitions or will it ask to choose the partition to install the OS ?

Using the recovery DVDs will reset the HDDs to the original state at which they came. That means that if you had repartitioned your HDD, all that is gone and so is the data contained in them. I don't know what happens if you have not repartitioned and you still use the recovery disc. But my advise would be to make a backup of all important stuff anyway. You never know what will happen during an OS installation.
 
if you plan to use the recovery dvds, it will delete all the custom partitions that you have made (expect the OS recovery partition that was created by SONY).

If you want t keep your current partition layout then use a Windows 7 disc and not the recovery media.
