KDE - KDE SC 4.4.0 Caikaku Release Announcement

I already have KDE 4.4 SC from Arch's official repositories on its day of release itself. It can only happen with arch,so quick. Its awesome:hap2:

The one thing I'm disappointed about is the progress bars not being smoothly animated as planned. Found out its a limitation with Qt progressbar itself - so hoping they enable it using Qt animation framework say by 4.5 release :)

But 4.4 is yet another awesome release as they are steadily building more coolness into KDE... it will Konquer the world for sure :P

I am on it full time now at home, and plan to install it (with kubuntu 10.04) for as many people I can find, starting with my aunt/uncle/cousins and also on my office desktop :)

Have to admit, it looks very stunning! [OT] Most of you guys are running Arch, right? Also, can we have a poll on distro preference? If there has been one already could someone point me in that direction[/OT]

Here are few changes Which I liked after a day of usage.

1) New Notebook interface for small screen devices

2) Removable Devices applet is lot lot better. the workflow is seemless, no more clutter with popups

3) Absolutely love the new art work

4) the 'Scale IN' desktop effect in Kwin

5) Tabbed windows: Simply amazing. To tab windows, right-click on the title bar of a window, point to "Move window to group", and then select the window you want to group with.
