Some interesting news about NVIDIA SLI.

Sunday we posted the beta 81.26 driver, coincidentally NVNEWS posted some news regarding the series 80 drivers, pretty interesting stuff if you are a SLI user. There is more good news on the horizon for SLI owners as NVIDIA's upcoming Release 80 drivers will contain the following features and enhancements.

* TV-out / HDTV-out support for even higher resolution gaming support

* Mix and match vendors - for example, pairing an SLI supported graphics card from MSI with one from BFG or XFX

* Mix and match framebuffers (via Coolbits) - pairing a 128MB graphics card with a 256MB graphics card

* Ability to enable vsync for all Direct3D and OpenGL games

* Dynamically enable/disable SLI - rebooting is eliminated!

* Primary Display Switching

* Auto Display Detection

* Linux Support

Also, the number of SLI Optimized games will increase to around 150! This is pretty good news folks

Nice.

Waiting for nVidia to release SLI which allow to pair two diff. cards together though :D.

That will put ATi in deeper s**t :P.

@techhead, yes i mean different Chipsets..

Suppose you have an existing 6800 GT and u wanna but 7800 GTX, you can hook em both together, both runnin @ the original Pipelines, not clocked down by the other.

6800 GT + 7800 GTX so that your old card doesnt go waste :P.

SLi, when this feature is added will rock!

This is kind of a pipe dreaming man....... whenever you pair 2 disalike cards together, the bundle has to operate in the subset of features that are common to both the GPU cores.

Imagine in AFR mode, one frame looking damn nice due to SM3.0 and the other damn suay due to SM2.0. That would be most anti-woot thing possible.... Hence both the cards would have to dumb down to SM2.0 level.

Common sense actually.......
