I have been looking at some new cheapo phones from Nokia that promise good talktimes. :P
v.i.z. 1650, 2630, 2760.
The 1650 claims upto 8hrs talktime but is a Series 30 phone :S and is only EGSM 900/1800 MHz while the other two are S40.
WTH is series 30 :S - can't seem to find what that is. :ashamed:
Any phone we know that is S30??:)
S40 was a good to use interface iirc- 6230/6230i were that i think. :ashamed:
Was also looking at clamshells and the 2760 looked mighty impressive just for talk and text purposes.
But have read a few reports of ring volume, speaker volume, call connectivity and network reception issues. :(
So frustrating after i almost decided for it. :@
1650 is in the lead at the moment as it's cheap (FM too :O), great talk time, colour screen, decent to look at(else that 1208 was OK but hardly a difference in price iirc).
But wasn't sure if these cheapo phones from Nokia are reliable.
What if the 1650 has a low ring volume and network issues- i am not in a position to take a gamble with my money even if these are not very expensive. :(
(Coz if i had the moni, E51 it was for me.)
Also had a dekko at the SE Z530i and Z550i specs long back- 550 has better cam and looks and feel but 530 had way better talktime- they just might be cheaper now. :P
What to do?? :)

Motorola FONE F3 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

El Cheapo.. but only a phone.. Brilliant battery life and reception.. absolutely no UI. Text messaging is terrible.. but then its sub 1500 bucks.. for that price its brilliant.

It is 999 shipped anywhere in India with 1 years mfr warranty from India Plaza- I got one for my gardener. Utter VFM.

S30 were the older nokia phones with screen res. 96 x 65 - i used to have a s30 phone once, don't remember the model no. though.

+1 for the F3 - amazing VFM where calls are concerned and good speaker ; infact i'm using mine as a alarm clock currently since i bought one just to have a play with it and was very impressed even though i have no use for it as a phone.

I had that F3 in mind- neat indeed for the price.:)

But quite used to having a multiple field phonebook and lots of entries- that's why had to keep it out of my list. :P

The F3 was positioned as a rural phone and that accounts for its limited features. Good VFM phone if you don't use the phone book much and have to use it in poor signal environment. The moment you have names of more than 6 character length in the phone book its starts to get very painful.
Text messaging is painful too.
