Guys,

I dont know if you have noticed, but reliance has changed plans.

visit :Welcome to Reliance Communications

Those who are on old plans contact customer care and change your plans or you will be charged by old rates only. This is more important to those on 512k / 1mbps connection as rates have reduced greatly.

512k plan is no more and in its place they are now offering 1mbps at marginal cost increase.

Change your plans now.

This applies for all DSL / LAN and wimax reliance users.

EDIT : Added attachment of the plans.

Seems like 1mbps for 1499 is a steal. I am paying 2500 for the same right now.

yup, even I am on the same plan. But now I am moving over to 2mbps :P

I was tempted for that too. But unforturnately I have some big expenses coming over next month and I am looking to save money

OK. I got call back from reliance informing me that they cant change mine to 2mbps :@

They say these rates are only for wired connections ( DSL and LAN ) and not for wimax.

This is total ripoff on their part considering that their infrastructure cost is less for wimax.

I am now writing email to customer care. Lets see.

What BS.

Their website says this

Enjoy broadband as you like it, only with Reliance Broadnet. Select from a wide choice of bandwidths, that ranges from 75 Kbps to 20 Mbps. No matter what plan you go for, it will make your browsing a delightful experince everytime.

Its for the Internet they are provinding which is fixed and not roaming :@

yeah, but from my past experience i know the telephone support guys can be idiotic at times.

I sent them email requesting plan change. waiting for reply. Their email support tend to be much better than telephone.

If this 1499 plan is without fup then I am going in for it too. enough of this airtel bs ! am leaving it after I talk to the reliance customer care.

For new customers, they only offer 1.2 mbps and nothing less than that for wimax. And it costs a frigging 2.2k+tax

This is clearly not the way for ISPs to go.

What's the whole idea behind Reliance not applying the same pricing for Wimax? I'm sitting here paying 15xx for 600kbps. I'm wondering if I should go wired but I don't want to lose out on reliability (which has been absolutely excellent!)

How reliable would my other options be? Tikona WiBro / Wired Reliance Broadband / MTNL?

I had called customer care three days ago and was told that these rates are only for wired connection, and I am a wimax user. This is pathetic!!

My problem with Reliance Broadnet has never been their plans or service. It is simply their pathetic login system with its quirks and automatic disconnection.
