Reliance Industries, set to launch 4G services into the highly competitive telecoms market, has signed a deal with the country's largest telecoms operator Bharti Airtel, to share telecom infrastructure.

The two companies will share inter and intra-city optic fibre network, submarine cable networks, towers and internet broadband services.

The arrangement may be extended in future to roaming services on 2G, 3G and 4G platforms, and any other mutually benefiting areas relating to telecommunication, the two companies said.

"The cooperation is aimed at avoiding duplication of infrastructure, wherever possible, and to preserve capital and the environment," Bharti said in a statement.

What do you think? It's definitely a Good thing for both the companies and It could go down the other way - Forming a cartel and make a mess.

IMO its good move, isn't in the Europe telecom share infrastructure? It will mean that for less infrastructure there will be more reach. although the subscribers number will increase too.

^^This. As long as it's really intended for environment and for betterment of peoples it's good. But in India, this statement is kinda vogue.

after Looking at what happened in this telecom industry right from 2002. I can vouch for Mukesh Ambani's Ideas. Sunil mittal NO NO.

What Cartel? A cartel is when you have a monopoly on something that everyone wants and needs and is price inflexible .. like Oil.
4G who wants it? Who needs it at any price?
They are having enough trouble finding customers for 3G with their ridiculous pricing and equally ridiculous packages.
4G will work if any only if Reliance breaks the prices like they (the undivided Reliance) did when they launched mobile services.[DOUBLEPOST=1386701108][/DOUBLEPOST]

Lol, what a ridiculous statement (by Bharti) The only reason they joining hands is because its cheaper, no one gives a damn about the environment, NO ONE.

Its similar to the cable network long back in US. Called up Charter and they forwarded my call to Comcast.
This way, they will have a hold on pricing. Never a good thing for customers.

Whats good in this , the only 4G providers have joined hand so no competition and consumers will be taken for a ride

LOL. What it has to do tie-ups with other operators.
Firstly, Reliance JIO (www.jio.com) will offer Broadband through WIreless ( LTE). It will come out in data packs (10Gb for 500, 25Gb for 1000 etc), the more you buy the more cheaper per GB of data. Obviously, they won't offer unlimited because it's wireless and it has its cons.
Next, Wired broadband could have FUP as offered by other ISP's or may be NOT, But it should be a lot better than any other operator offerings optimistically speaking.

3G has lots of competitors, don't tell me you love their very competitive pricing. Can you see the Queues outside their offices ?

Just wondering if you have source link for that pricing or is it a figment of your internet fantasy land .

Jio in the last week's Event promised speeds up to 49mbps even though there are lot of people in your area using the same service?

Jio was speaking of theoretically speeds of more than 100mbps. It seems its possible. I thought it was a joke
