Once I had Reliance Prepaid Wired BB(two years back).
I have very very bad experience with their CC service.
They always pushed me for postpaid line and once they stop their prepaid service.
And now from past three days I got 5 calls from Reliance.
They pushing me to take their Wimax and DATA Card.
The minimum rental starts from Rs.1500+.....O_O
Though it may depend on area wise......

Sorry to hear that. Hope they can put their resources on managing their existing customer base.

I don't trust wireless anymore since its more expensive with unstable speeds and huge packet loss, thats why i am more interested in their wireline boradband.

I think wireless should cost much less than wired cos wireless need almost no maintenance like mobile phone service.
Where wired BB need cable, boxes etc and much maintenance.....

that is only in theory..actually the cost for frequency that is a rare commodity is huge and the upfront cost for having wimax or wireless bt's is huge.. and after all the investment wireless still unstable and not reliable as latency rises and speed drops due to interference and so many other reasons.

striker_rage, I currently use reliance broadband 1mbps plan for 1499. I have been using reliance broadband (wired) for the last 6-7 years. The internet is superb. Since you do a lotta torrent dnloading, its very good. I get speeds of 130-ish kbps on 1mbps line. To know what dnloadn speed you will get divide your kbps plan by 8 to get it. So if you go for the 512 kbps plan ur torrent dnloads will be 64kbps approx and 300kbps will give u 37.5-ish.

They do have downtime but its very rare. I can safely safe in a span of 3 months, my net goes down for 2-3 hours about once or max twice. I am very happy with my service for all my needs which are torrent downloads and gaming. However, about once or twice a month for some weird reason, my net sometimes slows down for a couple hours(2-3) from like 1mbps to arnd 800kbps (acc to speedtest). I only notice this when it happens during my torrent downloads cos of the dnload speed drop, but never have noticed the difference when i've been surfing.

Hope that helps.

EDIT:

I have heard that their customer service is bad. I have never had to deal with the CS so I wouldn't know but whenever I've changed my wired plan, they're done it for me without any problem, within a matter a 2 hours of my request. As with any internet service provider, you will always have some pple who give you good stories and some pple who've had nightmares with their ISP. I'm one of the lucky guys and have had great internet and haven't ever considered switching to another ISP ever since i got reliance. Inf act, I've gotten a couple of my buddies to switch over to reliance broadband about a year back and they've been thanking me for it.

Also, regarding wireless vs wired, i would choose wired cos of better and more reliable speeds and I have never had any issue of "maintenance" of the reliance router.

this has never happened to me... until today.

i use the same plan as you and right now my speeds are a bit lower than normal . the speedtest from the reliance broadband login page has gone haywire and is showing all sorts of results from 750kbps to 950kbps. i just did a few speedtest.net tests and this is what i get

i have no idea what's up right now. i downloaded a trailer at 100KBps, which is about 20 less than what i normally get. i'm trying to download a game from steam and that is coming down at 40KBps :( (even after i've changed servers). this is my problem right now... 16gb game at 40KBps is just fail. wondering whether i should contact their support or will it get fixed on it's own?

^^ hehe thats exactly what i was talking about. It happens to me about once or twice a month for a couple of hours only. It makes no difference if you doing plain surfing, but if u gaming or dnloading or streamin vids you'll notice the difference from your normal stuff.

no need to contact support, it resolves itself in 2-3 hours time. rough it out till then :P

except it has been more than 2-3 hours already. not to sound impatient but the speeds i'm getting are ridiculous. don't even know what i'd say to customer care if i called them... my speed tests are showing 1mbps+ easily. this is so strange.

edit - ok now my speedtests are messed up too

take a deep breath and calm down. it should resolve itself. it always does.

well, turns out you were right. the problem just fixed itself a few minutes back. in fact, it got resolved while i was registering a complaint with reliance itself :P. downloading gta episodes from liberty city from steam and download speed is back to 120KBps .

Thank you so much for the great feedback hyperknight.

I am so glad to hear that. I just hope that when i go for reliance...i would never have to call their CC as well.

Even i go for wireline for the same reason :ohyeah:
