Remote desktop not connecting but ping happens

I have to do some work from home and for that i need to do the following

1. I am using Check Point secureclient VPN to connect to the VPN network
2. Connect to the terminal server using remote desktop, say the server name is
'abcd123'

But the first step is happening fine and i verified by opening the Intranet page of the client after loggin in the VPN, but i am not able to connect to terminal server at all.

I tried the following on command prompt also

ping abcd1234

And this ping worked fine.

So where does the issue lie ??
Please help as i will loose time but not getting this client connectivity happening.

I even tried that in the remote desktop window instead of 'abcd1234' i put its ip address (that i got from ping) but that too did not work.

which OS is the client u are trying to connect to ? u will have to enable the option of "Allow users to connect remotely to this computer" in system properties under the 'remote' tab.

^^ I don't know the target OS but i use this same laptop to connect to that machine daily when i go to office. It is just that currently we have holidays, i am suppose to work from home and hence require this.

That time are you connected to the Domain ?
When using Remote Destop over VPN, some Ports needs to be configured on your VPN routing to enable the RDP client to your TS that way

Your IT guy is the best resource, try checking with him regarding the issue rather than waiting on a forum !
