Radmin
PC remote control software - Remote Administrator (Radmin)

This fast, reliable, easy-to-use pc remote control software saves you hours of running up and down stairs between computers. Radmin allows you to take control of another PC on a LAN, WAN or dial-up connection so you see the remote computer's screen on your monitor and all your mouse movements and keystrokes are directly transferred to the remote machine. Radmin provides fast secure access to remote PC’s on Windows platforms.

I second that,Radmin ! but if you need more then have a look at these.

UltraVNC
UltraVNC is an easy to use computer program that can display a screen of another computer (via internet or network) on your screen. The program allows you to use your mouse and keyboard to control the other PC remotely. It means that you can work on a remote computer, as if you were sitting in front of it, right from your current location.

RealVNC
VNC stands for Virtual Network Computing. It is remote control software which allows you to view and interact with one computer (the "server") using a simple program (the "viewer") on another computer anywhere on the Internet. The two computers don't even have to be the same type, so for example you can use VNC to view an office Linux machine on your Windows PC at home. VNC is freely and publicly available and is in widespread active use by millions throughout industry, academia and privately.

TightVNC
TightVNC is a free remote control software package derived from the popular VNC software. With TightVNC, you can see the desktop of a remote machine and control it with your local mouse and keyboard, just like you would do it sitting in the front of that computer.

Digen, sice we are talking about networking here, can u tell me some free LAN audio chat programs, light on resources?

The best one among all is Symantec PCAnywhere. Offcourse its not free but its the best.
VNC is insecure. Some Anti-Spyware softwares detect VNC as spywares and cause problems !
Some VNC softwares like Ult@VNC(i like this one) have implemented encryption.
You can also use VNC through SSH2 (tunneling). Get OpenSSH for Windows. If it is cross platform Windows<->Linux then refer this:

@Rave
No idea mate, never had the need to search for it.But will post here if I find something interesting.

@ferrari
Thats exactly how i've been using VNC mate,Tunneling over SSH adds the security that it lacks otherwise.
As far as remote control software being detected as spyware then you are bang on target mate.Infact when I had been playing with Radmin,MS Anti-spyware detected it as malicious.

First you say that VNC is insecure, then u demolish that when u mention all the encrpyted and SSH2 versions.
But it does have the advantage that u can use it cross platform.
Have never used it (will start in a few days), so let us see (have to use VNC on linux).
For windows use, which is the lightest on resources? I plan to connect my laptop to desktop by this.

dear kingkrool,
VNC softwares like TightVNC do not use encryption. You can snoop with Ethreal and see what i mean. For this purpose you can use VNC with SSH tunneling. There is encryption added in Ultr@VNC.

Installing SSH for Windows-Windows needs some understanding of configuration. Newbies will find it difficult to configure and use SSH from WindowsToWindows and also Windows To Linux.

Quick steps to start ssh working from Windows TO Windows.
1) Install both SSH client and server on both Windows machines.
2) Create a Windows user "test"
3) Open command line and type:
cd C:\Program Files\OpenSSH\bin
mkgroup -l >> ..\etc\group
mkpasswd -l -u test >> ..\etc\passwd
4) Restart the Opensshd server from services.msc
5) Do steps 1-4 on your second windows machine.Keep same password for user test.
6) From your first windows machine if you want to copy a file "C:\test.txt" to the D: of you second windows machine then open command line and type:
scp /cygdrive/c/test.txt test@IP address of Second Windows machine:/cygdrive/d

Note: If its NTFS partitions then write permissions(Aloow/Deny) should be considered for normal user.

This is how u use SSH from Windows to Windows.

TightVNc is lightest on resources. I say get PCAnywhere from somewhere its really good.

You can try using various remote support services such as gosupportnow.com, logmeinrescue.com etc in order to remotely access desktops.
